Donor Experience Officer

The Donor Experience Officer (DXO) will provide a first-class philanthropic experience for all donors by leveraging digital and in-person engagement to effectively build relationships based on what truly matters to each supporter. About the Role:

The  Donor Experience Officer (DXO)  is a key member of the Annual Giving department at the University of Montana Foundation (Foundation), in partnership with EverTrue. The EverTrue Donor Experience Program at the Foundation is focused on marrying development communications efforts with fundraising workflows to engage and grow the next generation of supporters to UM.


The DXO will collaborate with a variety of Foundation departments and colleagues to effectively execute 1:1 outreach campaigns using technology resources, including EverTrue's cloud platform, social media, and virtual communications software. This role is critical to helping the Foundation achieve both its near-term annual giving goals and long-term fundraising objectives and develop qualified major gift referrals.


 The DXO will report to the Senior Director of Annual Giving and will work under the guidance of an EverTrue Donor Experience Program Manager.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage with and build relationships with a portfolio of supporters and prospects.
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 1,000 constituents.
  • Leverage technology, social media platforms and video conferencing software tools to build rapport, steward and solicit donors in a donor-centric, targeted, high-velocity manner.
  • Execute monthly and quarterly touchpoint cadences (averaging 20-40 outbound touch points per day) across the portfolio to ensure consistent and relevant donor communication.
  • Meet and exceed clearly defined activity metrics, fundraising outcomes, and pipeline growth targets.
  • Partner with Development Officers from Schools, Colleges, and Programs about fundraising priorities, or when joint solicitations or referrals are appropriate.


Ideal Candidate:

  • Related experience in professional sales, marketing, communications, financial planning or advising, and other fields.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Suite of application and database software applications.
  • Experience in a fund-development role, with demonstrated success in developing donor relationships preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education or a comparably complex organization and knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) databases preferred.
