Position Overview:

KCH Transportation is seeking an experienced Director of Overdimensional Operations to lead and optimize our specialized freight operations. This role is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, execution, and compliance of all overdimensional and heavy haul shipments. The ideal candidate will drive operational efficiency, build strong carrier partnerships, and ensure top-tier service for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategies to enhance overdimensional freight operations, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
• Assist in leading, mentoring, and developing our team of logistics specialists, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
• Oversee the planning and execution of heavy haul and overdimensional shipments, ensuring full compliance with DOT regulations, permits, and safety standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to secure competitive rates and reliable capacity.
• Collaborate with sales and account management teams to provide expert guidance on pricing, feasibility, and project planning.
• Analyze market trends, operational data, and financial performance to identify opportunities for growth and cost savings.
• Ensure seamless coordination between operations, dispatch, and customer service teams to maintain high service standards.
• Stay ahead of industry trends, regulatory updates, and emerging technologies in specialized freight transportation.

What We’re Looking For:

• Leadership & Strategy: Strong leadership skills with a track record of successfully managing teams and optimizing specialized freight operations.
• Industry Expertise: In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations, permitting, and overdimensional freight requirements.
• Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Ability to analyze challenges, identify solutions, and make informed decisions.
• Relationship Building: Strong ability to develop and maintain industry relationships with carriers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
• 5-7 years of experience in overdimensional/heavy haul freight operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale transportation projects while ensuring compliance with overdimensional regulations.
