Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to help ensure the quality and accuracy of content published or used internally by the HIMSS Media editorial brands ( Healthcare IT News , Healthcare Finance News , MobiHealthNews, and HIMSS TV) and other brands/departments as needed. The Copy Editor will work with the Director of Digital Content and Producer to build and manage digital content operations including content optimization, multimedia content production (video, podcasts, images, infographics, etc.), content publication, content workflows, and content production processes. In addition, the copy editor will collaborate with all editors and the Director of Digital Content on optimizing the universal style guide and developing best practices, including those related to SEO.

Position Summary

Essential Functions
- Works with the Director of Digital Content and Producer to manage and ensure efficiency of all processes tied to the digital production, distribution and syndication of content for HIMSS Media brands.
- Works with Director of Digital Content Strategy and Producer to maintain best practices for digital content production based on strategic goals and performance analysis.
- Ensures accuracy of all editorial site copy and works with site editors and freelance writers to copy edit all stories that have been published on all HIMSS Media sites and special event publications.
- Advises editors on digital best practices including story optimization, headline and subject line optimization, SEO, art selection and captioning, and narrative structure tied to digital content templates.
- Helps ensure quality of large content initiatives such as theme collections and events content, coordinating with editorial leadership to manage the planning, deadlines and syndication.
- Acts as a content librarian for HIMSS Media team, organizing and managing the content inventory so that all pieces are aligned with current or future taxonomies.
- Works with Content and Production team to develop digital elements to enhance HIMSS Media content such as data visualizations, polls, quizzes and other interactive content.
- Suggests new digital content initiatives designed to advance company goals.
- Helps manage homepage and destination page organization for all digital properties, including HIMSS TV. Also, helps with posting content and image searches as needed.
- Manages the copy quality control of HIMSS Media content and ensures content follows house and AP style guidelines.
- Performs newsletter production, story posting and other site production tasks as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communication, English, or 2 - 4 years of experience in a related field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of related work experience. Outstanding analytical skills with ability to achieve results in a complex environment
- Excellent copy editing skills, written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Effective listener.
- Ability to articulate and to sell ideas and concepts
- Outstanding interpersonal skills. Strong personal integrity
- Ability to build collaborative relationships
- Strong grasp of AP Style
- Ability to fact-check content and meet tight deadlines
- Knowledge of SEO best practices
- Experience with Drupal 10, Photoshop and basic HTML coding a plus
- Familiarity with GA4 and third-party SEO improvement tools a plus
