Job Summary

The City Field Service Manager leads and manages a growing department that provides cleanup, property maintenance, and compliance services to municipal and county clients. This role involves overseeing field supervisors and labor staff, dispatching crews, and handling work orders. The manager is responsible for maintaining and repairing vehicles, trailers, and equipment. The role combines administrative duties with hands-on field supervision, requiring effective communication with clients from city departments, counties, state authorities, and law enforcement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, model a strong work ethic, and ensure accountability while managing operations both in the office and on-site. They will seamlessly balance the professionalism required to navigate boardrooms and meetings with city officials and the physicality of working outdoors in varied environments and weather.


Key Responsibilities

·        Oversee field supervisors, ensuring proper documentation and productivity for all crews.

·        Plan daily operations with field supervisors and provide support as needed throughout the day.

·        Communicate daily with customers to receive work orders, coordinate schedules, and provide field reports with photos and documentation.

·        Meet with customers on-site to plan and discuss jobs.

·        Maintain current contracts and customer relationships while seeking new opportunities and bidding on contracts.

·        Maintain accurate records of work performed, including location, time, and invoicing details.

·        Track department finances, stay within budget, and work towards financial growth targets.

·        Manage seasonal fluctuations in field work through effective communication, planning, and workforce management.

·        Ensure trucks, trailers, and equipment are serviced and repaired as needed, recommending upgrades to Next Step Leadership.

·        Collaborate with Next Step Leadership to address challenges and opportunities and provide reports at scheduled team meetings.


Required qualifications

·        3 + Years of experience managing people and projects of similar kind and budgets

·        Valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record


Required skills

·        Excellent management, communication and customer service skills

·        Well-developed interpersonal skills, able to instruct and guide others, positive leadership style, strong team building abilities

·        Willing to lead by example, modeling an elevated work ethic and integrity at all times

·        Competent in taking initiative with good judgement- able to work independently – reporting key information and asking for direction as needed

·        Excellent administrative desk skills with industry standard technology and communication abilities (phone calls, texting, email, file management, clear work orders, reporting, invoicing, bidding and tracking)

·        Comfortable driving a pickup truck, towing/backing up a trailer

·        Able to assess and recommend maintenance, repairs and equipment upgrades

·        Experience with and knowledge of equipment safety and operation (trucks, trailers, snow-plows, quads, mowers, weed whips, chain saws, skid steers, etc...)

·        Able to deal with vehicle break-downs and communicate with repair shops about service

·        Proficiency with Microsoft products, Google Suite and iPad apps


Physical requirements

·        Ability to work in rugged and varied environments including alongside the highway, in forested areas, on hillsides, along rivers, in parks, parking lots and alleyways

·        Comfortable working in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and humidity

·        Must be able to navigate uneven and challenging terrain, including hills, slopes, and potentially hazardous surfaces

·        Capable of regularly lifting +50 lbs, standing, walking, climbing, crouching, bending, pushing or pulling for extended periods

·        Physical stamina and agility to handle demanding tasks in a variety of outdoor settings

·        Labor to include cutting/loading branches, trash removal, hauling, demolition, power washing, board ups/site securing
