Navvis is recruiting for a CFO for Esse Health in St. Louis, MO.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) oversees the financial operations for this organization with revenue of over $650M, 75% from value/risk-based contracts, comprised of 45+ locations and a workforce of over 900 employees.
Member of a seven-person executive team leading the strategic direction of the organization. This role is instrumental in the management and growth of the organization.
This role is responsible for leading the Corporate Development, Accounting, Revenue Cycle Management, Financial Planning/Analysis, Credentialing, Diagnostic Lab and Purchasing/Facilities Departments, providing financial information regarding all corporate activities that will assist management and its shareholders in making economic decisions.
In addition, this role is responsible for property and casualty program management.

- Provides strategic recommendations to the CEO, Board of Directors, and members of the executive team. Stays current with national and local economic conditions and serves as an advisor to the CEO on their impact.
- Responsible for understanding existing and new Medicare programs/opportunities, including Medicare Advantage, Medicare Shared Savings Program, and any other programs that become available. Presents recommendations on improvement to existing programs to the Medicare Oversight Committee and other committees, as necessary. Presents new opportunities to executive management and Board of Directors.
- Provides leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting teams including Accounts Payable, Treasury, Payroll, Fixed Assets and General Ledger areas. Oversees the annual GAAP financial audit, ensuring it is completed on schedule.
- Provides leadership, direction, and management of the Revenue Cycle Management department. Department responsibilities include claims submission, posting responses, follow-up insurance responses, maintaining clearinghouse relationship, and managing Patient Accounts and Collections. Manages various Revenue Cycle compliance activities related to Government payors (Medicare and others) and Commercial insurance
- Provides leadership, direction and management of the Financial Planning and Analysis department. Department is responsible for providing yearly financial reviews to each physician office, supporting the onboarding of new physicians, and provides ad hoc analysis as needed. This function also manages the processes for financial forecasting, budgets and oversees the preparation of all financial reporting.
- Provides leadership, direction, and management for Payer Contract Management function.
- Provides leadership, direction, and management of the real estate function. This includes negotiations of existing and new leases. Assists with finding new office locations and relocating of existing offices. Oversees construction projects.
- Provides leadership, direction, and management of the Purchasing Department. Assists with vendor negotiations. Understands vaccine and drugs for infusions purchasing/programs.
- Providers leadership, direction, and management of the Credentialing Department.
- Providers support to the Lab Director to ensure adequate capital and staffing needs.
- Supports the organization with meeting quality metrics.
- Ensures compliance with all rules and regulations related to accounting and payroll departments. Supports other departments in complying with rules and regulations that impact the organization. Establishes and maintains systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data.
- Presents financial opportunity to physician candidates and approves offers made to physicians.
- Reviews the annual property and casualty, Director and Officers, workers’ compensation, and health plans. insurance programs and determines if any changes need to be made to those programs. Finalizes the premium rates for the employee health plan.
- Attends required meetings and participates with committees as required/requested.

Education:
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance a plus
- Certified Public Accountant certification required
- 10+ years’ experience in accounting and financial management practices
- Minimum 10 years managerial experience. 5+ years in a senior management role.
