Hello friends and colleagues,
I recently celebrated a few big milestones, walking and biking over 300 miles of the Camino Frances in Northern Spain. The last year has been an energizing, rewarding journey of a lifetime. It’s far from over and being among the Spanish wildflowers has given me the opportunity to strengthen my core values:
1. Partnership in all its forms
2. Celebrating diversity
3. Valuing creativity
4. My lifelong love of the Spanish language and hispanic + latin cultures
In parallel, I also celebrated one year as Clandestina 's US Market Leader, leading the brand’s first major international expansion across partnerships, ecommerce, fundraising, pop-up activations and design collaborations with international artists and musicians to deliver value to our loyal 2k+ US customers.??
The challenges of being a Cuban brand in the US are real, but in the absence of resources, the idea of creating from what already exists represents design at its best. This positions Clandestina well in the context of the $10.4B ethical and sustainable fashion market, among a core millennial and Gen Z customer base. Clandestina also advances US-Cuba policy, which supports private Cuban small businesses.
Here’s a little more about Clandestina…
Born in Havana in 2015, Clandestina is an independent, female-owned collective of designers who are leaders in the sustainable fashion world. In Cuba, sustainability is not just an environmental issue. It’s also a 60+ year social practice.
Known for their vibrant clothing and accessories, Clandestina has been featured in Vogue, The New York Times and The Guardian as a recognized global leader in Cuban design. More than that, Clandestina is also a cultural force that uses humor as a vehicle for change. As we like to say, “Cuba is so far behind, we’re ahead.”
I can’t wait to share more about our work in the US. I’m also thrilled to have Clandestina serve as the launch partner of DAPHNE, a boutique marketing strategy and growth advisory for small and medium sized businesses looking to accelerate their growth journey. More to come there!

That's where I learned how rich and beautiful our culture really is, seeing the folkloric dancers, mariachi, live bands and dancing horses. Now as a mother, I am proud to be able to teach and show my daughter her roots, so she can experience the same thing I did as a child.
