Nimble recognizes the potential power of AI/Machine Learning approaches to accelerate the discovery of novel peptide therapeutics, and we believe that the ability of our platform to generate massive data sets uniquely positions Nimble to be the leaders in this area. We are seeking a highly motivated Machine Learning Scientist to join Nimble to help drive our efforts to develop Machine Learning methods to accelerate peptide drug discovery. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and developing novel algorithms and pipelines, and collaborating extensively with computational and experimental scientists to iteratively optimize the approach to Generative-AI enabled hit discovery.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative communicator and creative problem-solver. Technical requirements for the role are:

• MS or PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Data Science, Quantitative Science (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, etc.), or related field
• 1+ year of experience applying deep learning frameworks (post doc or industry; industry experience preferred); equivalent industry research experience will be considered
• Fluent in Linux command-line and python (or other programming language if applied to deep learning)
• Proficient in data preprocessing
• Extensive experience working with large chemical and biological datasets, including graph, sequence, and structure-based data
• Experience using deep learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch) to build and train models, apply transfer learning, and/or fine tune models
• Experience using cloud / compute / GPU clusters
• Experience with software (e.g. AlphaFold)
• Experience with protein structure modeling, design, or prediction algorithms ranging from Physics-based to deep learning architectures
• Record of machine learning research excellence as evidenced by publications in computer science and machine learning conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML)
• Ability to work collaboratively on projects with multiple contributors.

Preferred skills include:

• Experience deploying models to production
• Experience using experiment tracking platforms (e.g. MLFlow, TensorBoard, Neptune, Weights & Biases)
• Fluent in git or other distributed version control systems
• Experience contributing to drug discovery efforts
• Knowledgeable of modern deep learning concepts and architectures (e.g. Embeddings, Attention, Transformers)
