SENIOR WRITER (JOE)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented writer to work across JOE Media Group.

You’ll be responsible for the creation of trending news stories and editorial products to be published on the JOE websites across the UK and Ireland, including JOE.ie, JOE.co.uk and SportsJOE.ie.

Location: Dublin office (Minimum three days a week).

Starting salary: €40,000.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

• Sufficient experience working as a journalist/writer within the media
• SEO Experience
• Clear understanding of driving commercial opportunities within editorial outputs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Editorial products can include live blogs and quizzes, alongside working closely with the Editorial Director and Senior Direct Lead to develop other exciting products as opportunities arise.
• Sourcing and delivering articles in the JOE tone of voice, including long-form, high-value pieces and trending content - this can range from news, culture, entertainment and sport.
• Research industry-related topics (combining online sources, interviews and studies).
• Ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images and tone), alongside any other duties as required by Senior Management.
• Must be able to work across shifts across the week, evenings and weekends.

SKILLS

• Familiarity with web publications
• Great written communication skills
• Understanding of digital publishing industry
• Ability to recognize viral content effectively
• Editorial research and fact-checking skills
• Media law knowledge
• Ability to work under pressure and to work as a team
• Display a high level of curiosity and willingness to learn
• Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress)
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Must have multiple areas of interest across politics, entertainment, sport; well-versed in internet culture.
