Senior Quantity Surveyor

PE Global Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our client, a Cork based Electrical Engineering contractor. This is a permanent position and the role is offering an excellent salary and benefits package that includes a company vehicle.

Position Overview:

As a Senior Electrical Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of electrical projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to budgetary constraints. You will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, assessing variations, and providing insightful analysis to optimize project profitability. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to maintain cost control and deliver successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical projects, including materials, labour, and overhead expenses.
• Conduct thorough cost analysis, identifying potential cost-saving opportunities and recommending value engineering solutions.
• Manage procurement activities, including sourcing materials and subcontractors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop comprehensive project budgets and monitor financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and approve subcontractor invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to contractual agreements.
• Prepare and submit accurate and timely progress reports, cost forecasts, and variation assessments to senior management and clients.
• Evaluate and negotiate contractual claims and variations, resolving disputes in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Provide expert advice and guidance on cost-related matters, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
• Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors, fostering their professional development and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
• Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in quantity surveying, continuously enhancing expertise and contributing to process improvements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical quantity surveying within the Electrical industry, with a proven track record of managing large-scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and construction methods, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Project.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven negotiation and contract management skills, with the ability to resolve disputes and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites across Cork.
