Introduce Yourself

Ben Shamis: My name is Ben Shamis and I am a Partner on the Healthcare Technology team at DRI. I joined DRI in 2022 after nearly a decade in healthcare-focused management consulting, with previous experience in public accounting and corporate finance. At DRI, I specialize in senior executive searches and oversee our finance desk , focusing on roles such as Chief Financial Officers and their supporting functions in finance, accounting, and corporate development. I frequently collaborate with Digital Health partners on strategic searches and recently launched our AgeTech recruiting initiative, focusing on technology companies catering to the aging community.

My passion lies in connecting top talent with innovative companies poised for growth in the healthcare technology sector.

Describe the industries you focus your time in

Ben Shamis: I specialize in healthcare technology companies that sell products or services directly to patients or healthcare providers, including physician groups, critical access hospitals, and large integrated delivery networks. These companies are typically backed by Private Equity, Venture Capital, or Growth Equity, and are at different stages of growth. I work with a range of firms, from seed-funded startups to those in early series funding (A-D) and pre-IPO organizations. If you're part of a company in these sectors looking to strengthen your leadership team or strategic positions, I can help connect you with top-tier talent tailored to your specific needs and growth trajectory.

What types of roles do you work on??

Ben Shamis: The roles I specialize in are pivotal to advancing our clients' growth strategies. In finance, we often assist in recruiting foundational finance leaders or seasoned executives who bring a track record of success and growth. These positions typically include Chief Financial Officers and other senior finance roles, spanning finance, accounting, and corporate development functions. Candidates ideally have experience navigating complex financial landscapes, guiding companies through key milestones or successful exits.

Beyond finance, I focus on senior executive roles critical to driving company expansion. This includes Chief Executive Officers, Chief Operating Officers, Chief Product Officers, Chief Growth Officers, Chief Revenue Officers, and their supporting teams. These leaders are instrumental in shaping strategic direction, operational efficiency, product innovation, revenue growth, and overall organizational success. Recently, our team has been supporting our investor network in helping them hire Operating Partners for strategic leadership within their portfolios.?

In terms of experience and qualities, I seek candidates who demonstrate leadership acumen, strategic vision, and a proven ability to navigate and thrive in dynamic growth environments. They should possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to foster collaborative relationships, and a track record of delivering results that align with organizational goals. The Client Side

Ben Shamis: When working with clients, I start by deeply understanding their specific needs and strategic objectives. This involves collaboratively defining detailed position requirements and crafting compelling candidate profiles that reflect their unique culture and growth trajectory. We emphasize the strengths and opportunities within their organization, leveraging strategic storytelling to attract top-tier talent through diverse channels. Throughout the process, from initial engagement to final selection, I ensure a seamless experience by managing interview coordination and serving as an extension of their team.

The Candidate Side

Ben Shamis: For candidates, I take a proactive approach based on their experience and aspirations. I prioritize understanding their career goals and personal motivations. Together, we evaluate potential opportunities, considering whether the roles align with their professional trajectory. If the initial role isn't the perfect fit, I draw upon my network to explore other suitable opportunities that may better align with their aspirations. My aim is to provide valuable guidance and support, ensuring candidates feel empowered and well-prepared as they navigate their career journey.
