Earlier this month, Spotify released its highly anticipated end-of-year feature, Spotify Wrapped, showcasing users’ most-streamed songs, artists, and genres. Similarly, just yesterday, Cowrywise unveiled their Money Roundup for the year, and here’s mine: I was able to save this token, make a few withdrawals, and still earn some interest along the way. It may not be much, but as the saying goes, “Every little win is still a win.” I’m proud of the discipline I’ve built this year to consistently save, even when it wasn’t easy. To my fellow Zennials: cultivating the habit of saving, no matter how small, is a game-changer. It’s not just about the amount—it’s about building financial discipline and creating a cushion for rainy days. Your future self will thank you for starting now. “DUET” feature! TikTok revolutionized this engagement tool! Although other apps prior may have had some form of it, TikTok really elevated this feature which many creators have used so cleverly over the years. Also from this feature, they started the “STITCH”. I still remember when TikTok rolled out the “stitch” and the unique ways people have used it. The Duet feature is one of my favorite TikTok tools. I still have creators “duetting” my posts from 2020/2021. I used it as an “acting challenge” inspired by Eliana Ghen, Chris Barnett and my friend Dwayne Wilson (Sicko2005). Creators of all ages across the globe have duetted me. I play the “GenX mom” trying to be hip like her GenZ kid. My scripts are inspired by the Gilmore Girls - Lorelai and Rory banter. As mentioned, TikTok brought a lot of generations together as well as cultures. We learned so much about others around the World with features like Duets and the so many other tools that TikTok innovated which are emulated across many social media platforms now. Thank you to this GenZ Creator, Caroline Hoistad from Norway. (She gave me permission to post this on LinkedIn ) for duetting this and so many of my posts 🙏 Myself and millions of creators across the globe will be sad if TikTok gets banned in the USA. It has helped so many creators leverage their brand and monetize. I have personally seen so many women of my Generation thrive because of TikTok where traditionally society wants to erase us. My Duets are my way of storytelling, of generations coming together, of cultures understanding each other and of people resonating with parent/teen generation gaps in a fun - short form video way. And when creators duet me, they share in their storytelling as well. Praying TikTok doesn’t get banned in the USA 🙏

LinkedIn continues to undervalue Black Creators. Including me! My intent with this post is to ensure that this does not happen to other creators here on this platform. You may have seen the article below on Ad Age yesterday. Linkedin has me front and center as one of their B2B marketing "influencers". Let me be clear, because a few lines had to be redacted in this ariticle; LinkedIn Ads did not bring me to Cannes. When Linkedin brought this opportunity to me, I asked if there was an honorarium. The response was, no. My objective at that point was to use this as an opportunity to create great content. Most of you have likely seen this video posted already. It was their highest engaged content they received from all of their influencers, by a landslide. I used my personal brand to bring them relevancy and engagement from the Black community. It was only when yesterdays article was published, that I learned two of the four "influencers" were indeed compensated. They covered their entire trip, from flight, to hotel, to food. Why wasn't the same opportunity presented to me? Their response was they knew my expenses were already being covered. Odd...they didn't ask me... I was direct in letting Linkedin know that this is a prime example of pay inequity. Black creators on average get paid 35% less than white creators. When I brought this issue to them in text, their response was "we only covered per diem while in Cannes". When I spoke to one of their influencers they confirmed that their travel (flight, hotel and food) was fully covered. I asked that Linkedin redact the line within Brian Bonilla's article, and it indeed was changed. However, it now reads that yes, 2 of the influencers had all travel expenses covered, but me and one other didn't because we had travel already covered by our companies. So, they made it seem as though I had already known this to be the case. That is not true. I recieved a response to my email very early this morning. Rather than simply addressing the issue with a very quick "We are sorry, we firmly believe in pay equity and will address this issue immediately," I received a 656 word explanation and rebut to everything I had written. They immediately went on the defense. The last sentence in that response was "I am sorry for your experience. I'd like to help where I can. Let me know your thoughts" My thoughts are, all Black creators should be compensated fairly. My thoughts are, Black creators shouldn't have to jump through hoops to prove our value. We are and create culture! I write this knowing that there may be consequences —shadow banning my posts to limit my reach. So my question to LinkedIn; How can you change the way Black creators on your platform are being fairly compensated? As an update, they have reached out and will be compensating me for my time.

Simply put : Companies are realizing that most influencers are not "influential" at all. They have no power nor skill to drive behavior. Which makes sense because if what you initially post has no inherent or perpetuate value, why would people do what you want them to do? I think the future of content creation is going to be pure value. The myth of "followership" is getting debunked by time itself and this is due to the fact that we naturally get bored pretty rapidly and go else where to seek either substantial value or new forms of excitements.
