Meditation in Corporate World - Part 1 of 3

Meditation is one of the most ancient and most intelligent discovery made by mankind on human consciousness. Let's not relate this article to any religion and try to understand the science behind this amazing discovery.
The oldest book known to mankind on techniques of Meditation was written by Lord Shiva named - Vigyan Bhairav Tantra, which he wrote for his partner Devi (Shakti). It's believed that this book was written before TIME was known to mankind. But, it's really unfortunate to see, that very few people understands or try to understand the greatest works done by our ancestors. We simply place such books / people in a row of Great Incarnations, and hide behind them as a follower to make sure, no one should utter anything against my god or incarnation (will be covered in detail in part 2).
This is a series of articles which will be covered in 3 parts:
Part 1: Meditation - It's Not Concentration, It's Something like Empty Sky
Part 2: Meditation - It's Not Prayer, It's Something like Sound of One Hand Clapping
Part 3: Meditation - It's Not Yoga, It's Something like MARIJUANA
Part 1 of 3:
Meditation - It's Not Concentration, It's something like Empty Sky
In recent time, the greatest work (or better to say NO WORK) in this field is done by Gautam the Buddha. He gave the simplest possible explanation of Meditation:
Sit Silently and watch Your Breath
Innnnn, Ouuuuut, Innnn, Ouuuut, Innn, Ouuut, Inn, Ouut, In, Out ...
THAT'S IT, DONE. This is all about MEDITATION.
Now the question is - Why should I practice this simplest possible task in this universe, and which doesn't make much sense doing it ?
Here is my take on this:
First of all, believe it or not : It's the toughest task in this universe, if someone try doing it just as a task.
While doing this, we reach to a state of Doinglessness (apologies if it's not in dictionary). If we will observe our mind, we will find that it's nothing but a ChatterBox. Every time, some thoughts are passing by. It never relaxes, even when we sleep, it works and keep on releasing thoughts in the form of Dreams.
So what's the problem if mind is releasing thoughts every single moment? That's what Mind is all about.
Yes, Mind is all about Thoughts, Thinking, Fantasizing and Dreaming. Sometimes good thoughts which makes us Smile and sometimes bad thoughts which makes us depressed.
Now, when we observe a Mentally, Challenged person (we call them Mad people), we just need to watch their activity- Give them something to eat, they are eating, suddenly they smile, then they start crying, then they might throw that plate and start walking, murmuring something, again smiling again crying. And we call them mentally disturbed. But what they are doing is just because of the thoughts passing in their mind, and they have no control over it. Mind has reached to an unconscious level where thoughts are directly controlling their outside behavior.
Same is true with us also, difference is only with the number of thoughts passing and while it's passing our conscious mind is filtering it. When we see a beautiful man or woman, attraction is natural. Our conscious mind guides us to control our emotions / feelings and behave as we are uninfluenced by this natural attraction. In case of Mad man, he reacts immediately to whatever is suppressed in the mind for decades. He has no filter to guide him for the outcome of his action. That's how Moral values got high recognition in society, so that normal people should follow some protocols to live and behave in family and society. If any thoughts passes, then it will immediately be verified by moral lessons which are taught to us from childhood (some are useful and many of them are of no use) and then we may modify our outer behavior, accordingly.
Now, how meditation describes working of mind and our outside actions:
In the world of meditation, there is no place for thoughts, GOOD or BAD, both are equally dangerous. Because in both the cases, mind's working mechanism is active. It's just like, we have a pen and we write anything good or bad, but the rate by which Ink depreciates will be same.
Mediation says: Till your mind works, you are not in meditation. That's why in the world of Meditation mind is compared with a Monkey, who keep on jumping from one branch to another. Doesn't matter he is jumping on a Bamboo or Banyan Tree.
I remember on of my Quote written few years back:
Now, If these words are read in outside world, and someone attach to it, then he may feel bad for getting compared with a monkey.
That's why our website, SalesMatinee.Com, clearly mentions- We don't have any interest in commenting or contradicting anyone in person. Contents are written in terms of Inner World of Awareness.
While practicing meditation, in early stages, it's difficult to attain a state of Empty Sky (Empty Mind), where no Cloud floats, where there is no thoughts passing. There will always be a battle going on between one thought and another. But we should always convince ourselves that any thought passing by is defining us, and not our true being. Fighting with the thoughts to stop them is the most dangerous and misleading thing we may DO in meditation. Because it's all about NOT DOING.?
In another Shortest Possible Explanation by few Monks:

SITTING SILENTLY, DOING NOTHING.
One of the quotes, which I tweet periodically in different ways and that helped me a lot to convince my mind sitting for meditation:
While sitting for Meditation, there is no scope for our achievements in outside world. No preference is given for our success achieved in personal or professional life. Outside, it's always a No Man's Land, where attaining all the luxury will not make a single sense after 70-80 years of our life span. One more such Tweet:
Finally we will have to leave this world and no one will have time to remember us. All the Words and Works will be left behind just defining their NAMES. No one will be here to know what's going on with their Words and Works. So if there is a battle within no one will have interest in fighting it outside. Even, the greatest people of this world are given a day for their remembrance, and then we continue our daily routine, as usual.
So what's the point in participating in a race, where no one wins and no one cares for more than 70-80 years. And why should I make my life miserable, competing with others, just because most of the people are participating in that race to try their luck.
I would like to conclude this part-1 with a short story, which is very famous among the Monks.
Once upon a time there was a monk living on a hill top and many people all over the world were coming to him to learn Mediation. Once a man came to him and said- I want to be your disciple, please teach me meditation. Observing his inner discomfort and hurry for entering into the still and silent bottom of this deep ocean, he suggested him to come after a week, and told him - please don't think of a monkey in these 7 days.
Man was little bit astonished, that why he asked me not to think of a monkey, I never think of a monkey without any reason. But when he started descending from the hill, he felt as if some monkey is behind him, when he looked back nothing was there. While reaching home, there were many monkeys behind him just in his imagination. When he was sleeping, that time also he was thinking as if any monkey is inside the room. Within few days he started talking to them, removing them from his shoulders and was completely fed up with the monkeys all around him.
Within 3 days, he went back to the monk and said- It has never happened with me that monkeys, disturbed me like this. What have you done? I will learn meditation after a while but first save me from these monkeys.
Monk said- This was your first lesson in Meditation. Never fight with your thoughts. Never suppress anything inside you. Whatever you will suppress, will release, when you will sit silently for meditation. Slowly those thoughts will take you with their flow and you will be sitting restlessly fighting with your thoughts, and that will never be a meditation. It's not about sitting with closed eyes for 1-2 hours, and keep on smiling thinking of some pleasant memories or crying, thinking of something bad happened in past. It's all about No Thinking at all.
Before we wrap up, lets try this simplest possible practice just for 5 minutes. Let's sit in any comfortable posture and watch our breath. Innnnn, Ouuuuut, Innnn, Ouuuut, Innn, Ouuut, Inn, Ouut, In, Out.
No effort in making breath deeper or smoother, just watch the way it is going in and coming out, be an Observer and nothing else.
How many thoughts passed :) Girlfriend, Family, Job, Wife, Children, who came first ?
For me, In starting, it was all of the above except wife and children. And more we try to concentrate, more thoughts start floating.
Concentration has it's own benefit. Exams are near, concentrate and fetch good marks to get a good job. Makes sense. But, It has nothing to do with Meditation.
We will see in depth, about other benefits of Meditation in upcoming parts, because we don't want to do anything which has no benefit. But Meditation in real, will bring a state where we see this world from a completely new horizon, not from a profit loss perspective.
Hope it was a good read. We will be releasing shortly the Part -2 of this series.
