INEM AW139 Helicopter Crash-Lands in Portugal During Rescue Mission

An AgustaWestland AW139 helicopter operated by the National Institute for Medical Emergency (INEM) crash-landed in Atei, Mondim de Basto, Portugal, on September 2, 2024, while responding to an accident at a local quarry. The helicopter, carrying four occupants, struck trees during landing due to reduced visibility from dust raised by the rotors, resulting in the aircraft tipping over. All four individuals on board, including the pilot, co-pilot, doctor, and nurse, sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital as a precaution, while an investigation team from GPIAAF has been dispatched to the scene. NTSB Releases Report on New Stuyahok, Alaska, Beech 200 Accident

The NTSB has released its final report on the December 6, 2023, accident involving a Beech 200 aircraft (N98RA) in New Stuyahok, Alaska. The investigation identified the probable cause as the pilot’s loss of directional control during the landing flare on a snow-covered gravel runway, resulting in substantial damage to the left wing after striking a snow berm and spinning 180 degrees. The report found no pre-accident mechanical failures, and all five occupants escaped injury; the NTSB emphasized the need for improved pilot decision-making in similar landing conditions. SARPcheck global aviation safety audit: A wet lease, codeshare, ACMI Booster

SARPcheck is a new global aviation safety audit that assesses airline compliance with select ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) across defined ICAO Annexes. The primary aim of this audit is to enhance global flight safety while providing an affordable and accessible tool to facilitate ACMI, wet lease, and codeshare operations. The ICAO Annexes and SARPs that SARPcheck focuses on are specifically those outlined by regulatory and industry standards, including FAA requirements for overseeing foreign air carriers and the TCO approval elements of EASA.

SARPcheck is governed by a London-based not-for-profit organization, the Safety Audit Review Partnership (SARP Ltd.), which accredits Safety Quality Organizations (SQOs) such as AEROTHRIVE , Aviation Quality Services and WAKE (QA) LIMITED to conduct these audits globally. Detailed information about the program, including the SARPcheck Program Manual (SCPM), informative brochures, and the latest updates, is available on our website at www.SARP.org . For further inquiries or personal assistance, please feel free to send me a message. I'm always happy to help! Lufthansa City Airlines is the global launch customer of SARPcheck.
