?? The annual United Nations Climate Summit has officially begun in Azerbaijan! Yesterday, COP28 President Sultan Al Jaber (UAE) passed the torch to COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev (Azerbaijan), who set a powerful agenda for the meeting: establishing a fair and ambitious new collective quantified goal on climate finance (NCQG). UNFCCC Executive Secretary Simon Stiell highlighted the importance of the biennial transparency reports due by the end of 2024, emphasizing that they’re essential for informed decisions on global climate action. He also stressed the need for well-defined indicators to measure progress on the Global Goal of Adaptation. We’re excited to share that as part of the Inogen Alliance delegation at #COP29, Hilton Lucio CEO of ANTEA Brasil and Alex Ferguson CEO of Antea Group UK will serve as panelists and speakers. ??Each year I start off with renewed hope that governments will start to walk the walk instead of just talk the talk… ??It was reported yesterday that global emissions actually rose with 1.3% in 2023. ??The world’s global emissions need to be cut by a staggering 42% by 2030 to limit global warming to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels. ??And this is discounting the possible detrimental impact of very recent geopolitical events… ??Instead of stretching targets to 2035 we need to ditch the PR and warm words and start holding governments to account. #CarbonReduction #OurNaturalWorld (Bloomberg reporting in the comments)
