This was a scarily close call. ?? A high-speed, four-foot-tall concrete saw somehow slipped from a construction zone, skidded through a parking lot, and slammed straight into this store's wall. It was mere inches and seconds away from causing an undeniably serious injury to this man. How does this sort of thing happen? Bad luck? The accident was not a matter of chance. A root cause analysis concluded that the blade had been overused and fell loose. (The shopper, however, is very lucky to be alive.) In other words, this situation was preventable. Does anyone know if there's any good reason to use H3.2 cavity battens (CCA or MCA) as opposed to just H3.1 (LOSP)? B2 Acceptable Solution lists H3.1 as the minimum. As soon as someone "ups it" to H3.2 there are additional DPC installation requirements to protect some claddings from chemically reacting with the CCA. Why do we even have lots of battens in H3.2? Why doesn't everyone just stick with H3.1? Is there any good reason to "up it"? Edited to add: have potentially found an answer by talking to timber merchant. On commercial jobs H3.2 are required because you can cut them without having to treat the ends (so it lessens future risk of failure). But on residential jobs H3.1 should be fine, as long as builder treats the cut ends because LOSP doesn't penetrate timber, it's a surface treatment. I think!

Take a quick look at this home in Hollis, New Hampshire as they begin the Warmboard-S installation. For this framing team of 4, it was their first time installing the product. After about the 2nd row, they had gotten the hang of it. By the end of the next day (about 14 hours), all 3100/sf had been installed. A bit slower than normal due to some of the unique shape of the house. As a general guideline however, Warmboard may take about 2x what a standard Advantech subfloor might take. Three weeks later and you can see the progress on framing the upper floors. The first phase of the upper floor will use Warmboard-S, but our Warmboard-R overlay panel will be used later in the install process, to provide some flexibility in floor heights and flooring assemblies. With tubing in slab in the basement, the entire home is about 5500/sf and will be heated entirely by propane with our Warmboard Comfort System. https://lnkd.in/gWayG-EC
