Safety man to the rescue!
A good safety manager is always needed, there is no way around it. Today a company faces a great deal of pressure from legislation, public sector, clients and other interest groups to fulfill ever growing expectations and responsibilities. To remain in the game a company needs to keep up with this progress and to improve its performance.
Creating safety is not child's play. If it was easy, everyone would do it. If it could be bought, it would be sold in discount in the nearest hardware store.
Often company satisfies itself with the easiest solution. Jack the Engineer (name changed) is summoned to the corner office and he is given the task as a part time safety manager. He is overjoyed about this addition to his burden and futile protests about lack of time, experience or unsuitability to the task are brushed off the table. Now the company has it's very own safety guy and problem is solved.
This does not always work though. Sometimes this solution is found lacking. Problematically even safety work made by professionals takes time to cause an impact on statistics. Thus inefficiency does not reveal itself immediately.
Top management should therefore consider hiring a real professional instead of the easiest solution. Right man on the job can produce tenfold the results compared to someone who does not know what he is doing. No one would think twice whether they want a first year student fixing their teeth or a long term professional dentist.
This might be a shock to you. My text contained hidden advertisement. If your company, or a company you know needs a competent professional safety manager, I am the man for the task. I will build safety practices and systems from scratch and with company's management support I will drag the corporation to meet the modern requirements even if it would give me a kicking-and-screaming fight.
