Job Title: Ruby on Rails Developer

Type: 12mon Contract (with possible extension)

Location: San Jose, CA (Remote, Local Preferred)

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on developing features for the BT Vault using Ruby on Rails.
  • Address and resolve customer issues related to Vault products.
  • Write clear and efficient code, avoiding unnecessary complexity.
  • Participate in discussions and design of intricate data structures and algorithms.
  • Engage in database design, programming, optimization, and query performance tuning.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers in an agile environment to deliver high-quality solutions within deadlines.
  • Utilize PostgreSQL along with monitoring tools such as Splunk and Datadog.
  • Contribute to team brainstorming sessions and planning activities.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in building web applications, particularly using Ruby on Rails (RoR) or other object-oriented/functional programming languages.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written, with a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • An interest in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and experience in using testing methods to solve problems and create solutions.
  • Ability to work within an agile framework: closely interacting with Product Managers and Technical Leads, incorporating real-time feedback, and effectively managing tasks.
  • Knowledge of software configuration management principles, source code version control (e.g., Git/GitHub), and issue/bug tracking systems (e.g., JIRA).
  • Ability to independently research and implement solutions using online resources.
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with payment systems and processor APIs.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in developing analytics or search-driven applications.
  • Expertise in optimizing the performance of large-scale applications.
  • Understanding of Ruby syntax and its subtleties.
  • Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
  • Strong understanding of external APIs.
  • Experience deploying applications to Kubernetes (k8s).
  • Experience in both microservice and monolithic application development.
