Big ?? news today! A new $250 million program to offer affordable leasing for up to 500 electric trucks. This is exactly the kind of innovative financing that we need - and is now possible through the historic $27B Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. Congratulations to our partners Climate United & Forum Mobility. 80% of drayage trucks (that take goods to and from ports) are small fleets, many owned by small business owners. As we electrify tens of thousands of these trucks, we need approaches that include small business owners in the transition -- ensuring that communities *and* drivers benefit. As Matt LeDucq said, "For us, success means not just cleaner air for port communities, but also lower costs per mile for truckers." Congratulations to Beth Bafford, Michael Grossman, Jacqueline (Bruns) Torres, and team -- our Elemental Impact team looks forward to supporting the rollout! Christina Angelides, Avra van der Zee, Gabriel Scheer, Danya Hakeem, Amir Chireh Mehr. ??2 days left??
If you are an innovator working on buildings and materials, heads up! We know that large company customers can drastically change the course of a startup's journey, but it can also be tricky to find the right front door at a big organization. That's why we created the Build Better Innovation Challenge, and there are ??2 days left?? to seek pilots, investment, and carbon credit purchases with top execs from Microsoft, Capgemini, & Bouygues Group. Any innovative company can apply. At Elemental Impact, we've iterated a huge amount on what *really* unlocks commercial relationships between startups and large companies, and this challenge is one result. Here are some fun facts about the 3 companies and why they're such powerful partners for innovators: Microsoft: As of 2023, was responsible for building 20% of the new data centers worldwide, and operates in 190 countries. One of the world's largest buyer of carbon credits. Investor in dozens of companies and funds (including Earthshot Ventures!) through the Climate Innovation Fund, and amazing ecosystem convener as you can see from my snapshots from the summit last week in Seattle. ???? Capgemini: As a technology and engineering firm, they work on a lot of those data centers, have a presence in 50 countries, and employ 350,000 people. ???? Bouygues: Through businesses in construction, energy, and media, they are active in 80 countries with 200,000 employees. They also built the 2024?Paris Olympic Aquatic Center...?out of wood! ?? https://lnkd.in/gmiGM_Yk Mark Chambers, Brandon Middaugh, Beno?t Gufflet, Melanie Nakagawa, James Lockyer, Christian Rasnake, Camille Bangug

Our very own Kayla Economou recently shared crucial insights on diversity and data in climate technology with Hadas Webb of Browning the Green Space. “It’s important that we know what our baseline is as an industry. Finding disaggregated data in climate tech is especially difficult. We need to know where we’re starting from so we can move the needle accordingly.” Kayla highlights the urgent need for better data practices in climate technology and how improved data collection and transparency can drive meaningful progress. You can read the full article in Impact Entrepreneur here: https://lnkd.in/derhHEAW How do you think we can improve data practices to foster greater diversity in climate tech?
