I was surprised to see that AI already has such wide adoption, but less surprised that 82.2% of producers not using AI cites artistic and creative reasons (for example, “I want my art to be my own”. What does it take to create an audio plugin? Can you do it all by yourself? While there are developers who fly solo — who know the entire audio software stack — the vast majority of audio software products are developed by a team, where each person has their own responsibilities. For example, you may have an engineer who specifically makes DSP algorithms, and another who focuses on the user interface. Rather than carrying the massive burden of developing a plugin yourself, under this approach, it much more manageable.
