I always believed that learning and resilience are both better when done with others and in friendships and communities. This is part of any leadership playbook for today. So, when Adam Wood, Tim Rushbridge and Paul Baker (3 Australians on a journey to make world-class training and education accessible to people all over the world) approached me to join as a pioneer for their new learning platform, Hero Series, I got pretty excited.
Hero Series is an immersive, and interactive learning experience that combines world-class content with a supportive and dynamic online community.?The premise of the platform is centered on thought-leaders (the "hero") sharing their wisdom and actionable content with their community. People can come together around a thought-leader, who act as their guide in this ever-changing world. On the platform, participants and thought-leaders can easily and fluidly share insights, articles, and ideas with each other around the content. The thought-leader is a Hero in the Series but, as many of you have heard me say - the reader is the hero of every book, the student is the hero of every class, the client is the hero of each of my coaching engagements. For me, this is creating a community of HEROES (you!) through shared learning and connection.
My 4 week Hero Series, centered on Purpose-Driven Leadership will help you discover your purpose and your superpowers so you can build?highly-effect, high performing teams as well as tap into your agency for making the biggest possible difference in the world. The sessions will explore purpose as a force-multiplier and help you identify ways that you can turn purpose into a core part of driving practical and meaningful business growth.? There will be 2 sessions each week- one on content and the other is Q&A with the community. There are scholarships and the platform will also donate a portion of its proceeds to Hero Series Cure Cancer Fund.
I hope to see you there. The series starts on November 15. Come join me at: https://heroseries.co/register/purpose-driven-leadership-sanyin-siang/
Conversation with Three of My Heroes
Recently, I have had the chance to speak with three of my heroes who graciously invited me on their amazing podcasts. All of these conversations integrate Purpose Driven Leadership with superpowers, and we explored different tools for one's personal and professional leadership playbooks.
Lisa Borders has depth of experience across multiple sectors. She's a Duke University Trustee, the former President of the WNBA, and former vice?mayor?of Atlanta. She is also one of the most fearless and loyal friends one can ever have. A visionary, she is always using her influence and platform to create positive change for society.
Lisa invited me to talk on her podcast, Enlightened, about blind spots and patterns of leadership excellence in some of the world's most impactful companies and organizations. We discuss crossing ecosystems and the change that comes from minding the knowledge gap, rejecting assumption, and being deliberate listeners.
Together, we examine the contemporary relevance of being a "guide on the side" versus a "sage on the stage". It is more important than ever for women to fight the urge to diminish our superpowers, share our wisdom, and embrace the enlightening art of co-creation.

Ann Marie and I have a friendship that span more than 2 decades. We met as students at Duke and instantly, I was in awe of her wit, humor, and fierce sense of justice. To this day, I have neither lost my awe, nor has she lost that same magic.
She is a gifted educator, a fellow mom of three, a military spouse - her husband, retired Navy pilot Ken Harbaugh (another classmate) is former president of Team Rubicon and the nonprofit The Mission Continues. The author of a MUST read parenting guide Here Be Dragons, Annmarie is a renowned writer and expert on living your best life.
In this episode of Wild, Precious Life, Annmarie and I had a chance to sit down and talk about the discovery of superpowers: those that we find within ourselves, and those we find in others. We also shared some of our life-changing failures.
When we view life as an opportunity to “hold the door open” for others, life becomes a shared experience that curates endless inspiration and strength. Annemarie and I reflect on what truly matters in our lives and why – what empowers us to shine onwards, and what recharges us at the end of the day. And most importantly, we all need to make the time to bake ciambella cake!
Lisa Kay Solomon is a leading expert and futurist on education and design thinking. She and I met as fellow members of Silicon Guild, a distinguished salon group of 40 authors and thought-leaders who get together regularly to discuss key topics. (Other members include Susan Cain, Anne-Marie Slaughter, Chris Yeh, Jacqueline Novogratz, Rita Gunther McGrath, Bob Sutton, and Julie Lythcott-Haims). Lisa and I immediately bonded over our shared value in fostering the next generation and the belief that the humanity-facilitating skills, such as empathy, curiosity, and imagination, are critical to success in any field. These skills need to be the cornerstone of our next generation's education.
“But to be true in the big moments, you have to be true in the small moments. And moments... moments matter.” In this episode of New View EDU, Lisa, co-host Tim Fish, and I examine resilience through the lens of leadership in the school setting. What are the essential understandings, skills, and practices school leaders can adapt from other settings to create dynamic and supportive environments for students and staff? How can we learn from the legacies of great leaders like Coach K to transform our own teams and live lives of significance?
It’s a big topic to tackle at a time when many are focused on just getting students back to school and back to the traditions and systems we recognize. But in this moment of transformation, we have a unique opportunity to adapt our practices to help our schools thrive in a rapidly changing world. Leadership, executed with empathy and positivity, is an art form that chips away all but the “assumed awesomeness” in each person, leaving every administrator, teacher, student and staff member ready to develop their own superpowers.

3 年Thanks Sanyin - wonderful words as always. As a marketer I have always been drawn to those in my profession who never succumbed to the fad of the day. Whilst much of the marketing world championed digital as 'the death of traditional channels', these voices were brave enough to go against the grain and say, 'the data and the evidence say otherwise.' And this wasn't just an attempt to maintain the status quo with something familiar and safe, this was a desire to simply be good at what they do and share their wisdom with a younger generation of marketers. So my heroes are Les Binet, Bob Hoffman and (fellow Hero Series Hero) Rory Sutherland.
