The organization recently recognized her service when announcing the committee's newest members. The U.S. Leadership Committee is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission and values, focusing on strategic planning nationwide, including strengthening collaboration among firms and lawyers across many industries and fields of law. Jeanne's three-year term led to meaningful professional relationships for both the firm and many of its clients with national and international legal needs.

It's almost time for the much-anticipated head-to-head contest this November… The Florida-Georgia / Hulsey-Gambrell Moot Court Competition returns for its 44th year on Friday, November 1, at the Bryan Simpson United States Courthouse in Jacksonville. The annual competition between students from the University of Florida - Fredric G. Levin College of Law and the University of Georgia School of Law is held on the eve of the Florida-Georgia football game and has become a tradition in the #Jacksonville legal community. Two law students from each school compete in a mock case before the U.S. Supreme Court, making their appellate arguments before a panel of federal and state court judges from the two states. Florida looks to repeat its success after last year's victory, but the Georgia team has plans of its own. The overall tournament record now stands at 26 wins for Georgia, 12 wins for Florida and five ties. The competition is open to the public and begins at 9:30 a.m. on November 1. #UGAvsUF #MootCourt

The Georgia’s Own Foundation supports the L.E.A.D. Center for Youth’s mission to empower an at-risk generation to lead and transform Atlanta. All proceeds for the event went directly to support L.E.A.D., and Georgia’s Own Foundation donated $145,000 at the event. A $70 million deal has crossed the finish line with the assistance of SHB’s corporate, healthcare and real estate practice groups, which guided the Florida-based healthcare company Brooks Rehabilitation through a joint venture with Mayo Clinic to bring a 60-bed rehab facility to north Phoenix. The firm represented Brooks Rehabilitation, which is partnering with Mayo Clinic Arizona for the project. The corporate formation and real estate transaction negotiations were handled by managing partner M. Richard Lewis, Jr., along with shareholders Charmaine Chiu, David Roberts and Chris Dix, and associate Samantha Wood Roy. Congratulations to SHB’s M&A team, which was recognized by The M&A Advisor’s 2024 International M&A Awards for its role in guiding the acquisition of a Florida-based insurance provider for international and cultural exchange students. The transaction was named Financials Deal of the Year in the 15th annual International M&A Awards and will be recognized on September 24th in New York City. SHB represented Envisage International Corp. in its sale to NSM Insurance Group. Navagant LLC served as Envisage’s investment banker in the transaction. The 2024 Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management and Patient Safety (FSHRMPS) conference featured Smith Hulsey & Busey shareholder Earl Googe as a panelist. Googe’s panel covered the 2024 Florida legislative session’s impact on healthcare law, including practitioner recruitment and retention, preventative care, behavioral health, healthcare innovation and the cost of inpatient hospital care.
