From the field | Here's a goldmine of insights from one of our recent promotees, Andrew Bitetti, about some clogged blowdown piping: "These photos are of an internal inspection completed on a fire tube Hurst boiler. Before opening the boiler, evidence of leakage was identified on the bottom rear door area. Upon opening the doors, multiple tubes (18) were leaking between the tube and tube sheet. During the waterside examination, excessive scale was observed throughout. "While trying to determine how and why that much scale was present, I spoke with contractor personnel and the Assistant Director of Engineering. The contractor reported the condition of the boiler was consistent with past maintenance periods. While speaking with the Assistant Director of Engineering, he reported that he conducts daily blowdowns. This struck me because it was not consistent with what we saw. "I continued with the inspection and came to find out the blowdown line was clogged. That line must have been clogged for an extended time. Since that inspection, all recommendations have been complied with and are now closed. It was only a matter of time until the boiler would have failed."

Last week, our board of directors met and decided on a new company benefit we're proud to announce: ?? BPC will now offer a disaster relief grant of up to $1,000 for employees affected by a natural disaster such as a hurricane, flood, wildfire, earthquake, mudslide, tornado, etc. No payroll taxes will be deducted from this grant.
