County Commissioner Jerry Campbell was on hand to offer his congratulations to the graduates.
A steadfast advocate for inmate programming and education, Commissioner Campbell highlighted the critical role education plays in reducing recidivism.
"Education is a powerful tool for change," said Commissioner Campbell. "By investing in our inmates' futures, we are investing in safer, stronger communities."
Major Shaun Klucznik, Jail Administrator, standing in for Sheriff Al Nienhuis, also addressed the graduates, offering words of encouragement on behalf of the Sheriff.
"Sheriff Nienhuis extends his heartfelt congratulations to each of you," Major Klucznik said. "Your commitment to your education is not just a personal achievement; it is a step toward building a brighter future for yourselves and your families."
The GED program is one of many offered through the Re-Entry & Programs Unit at the Hernando County Detention Center, all of which aim to equip inmates with the skills necessary for success after incarceration.
Sheriff Nienhuis and the Hernando County Sheriff's Office remain dedicated to providing educational and vocational opportunities that support inmates' personal growth and reduce their likelihood of reoffending.
