The Golden Glades Interchange (GGI) project in Miami-Dade County, currently under construction, would significantly benefit from the involvement of a project management company due to its complexity and scale. This $908 million project, managed by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), aims to enhance regional mobility by upgrading a crucial transportation hub that connects five major roadways, including I-95 and the Palmetto Expressway. The project involves the construction of 32 new bridges, installation of extensive drainage systems, and modernization of traffic monitoring and safety infrastructure. One of the key challenges facing the GGI project is its prolonged timeline, with completion expected by 2031. This extended duration increases the likelihood of logistical issues, cost overruns, and public disruptions, particularly given the project's location at one of Miami's busiest intersections. Coordinating the various phases of construction, minimizing traffic disruptions, and ensuring timely communication with the public are critical needs that a specialized project management firm could address more effectively. Moreover, managing the integration of new technologies, such as wrong-way vehicle detection systems and traffic monitoring cameras, across a vast and congested area presents significant coordination challenges. Vidin-Calafat Bridge over the Danube (180m span), Javier Manterola, Antonio Martínez CUTILLAS, CARLOS FERNANDEZ CASADO, S.L. (CFCSL), 2012. #inktoberBridges2024 The bridge over the Danube River between Vidin (Bulgaria) and Calafat (Calafat) is one unique bridge for railway and road. It has three different decks depending on the span lengths, based on a precast prestressed concrete single box girder with transversal struts. It maintains the same 4.50m deck depth all along the bridge with an extradosed cable system and struts to reduce its overtensions for the 180m long spans.
