Introduction:
?
Thinking of AI as a solution in search of problems to be solved takes us to a paradoxical aspect of artificial intelligence. While AI has indeed made significant advancements ?in addressing existing problems, it also raises concerns about its impact on various aspects of our lives, the ethical considerations surrounding its use, and the challenges associated with its perception of truth. What astronomical number of new problems will be solved, and, at the same time, how many will be generated along the course of its explosive widespread growth?
?
?
The state of the art, and its exponential impact on daily lives and business:
?
AI has already proven to be a valuable tool in solving complex problems across various domains. A few? examples show how AI is actively addressing real-world problems, showcasing its potential to revolutionize industries and improve human lives.
?
In healthcare, for example, AI algorithms analyze medical data to identify patterns and predict diseases, leading to early diagnosis and personalized treatment plans. In mental healthcare, its potential for diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric conditions offers an exciting possibility too. In finance, AI used for fraud detection and risk assessment enhances security and efficiency. Or, in our daily experience, we have gotten used to let it tell us the best way to drive from A to B.
?
In education, AI-powered platforms offer personalized learning experiences, adapting to individual student needs. In transportation, AI contributes to the development of autonomous vehicles, promising safer and more efficient travel.
?
The impact of AI is not limited to specific industries; its influence is exponentially growing across endless areas of daily life and business. Smart homes equipped with AI-powered devices enable energy efficiency, security, and convenience. In the workplace, AI initially was seen upon as a powerful assistance in automating routine tasks, allowing humans to focus on more complex and creative aspects of their jobs. But now we witness how we also benefit from the ways AI takes over activities that belonged to the realm of creativity, such as generating art and copy, pushing us to redefining the concept of creativity itself: creativity in the prompting.
?
As AI continues to advance, its transformative effects on daily life and business are likely to become more profound.

Applying AI to untackled problems:
?
Despite its current achievements, there are still countless areas where we still have not applied AI to improve our lives, or only starting to do it. The potential for evolution is staggering. Is it only a matter of time?
?
Climate change, for instance, requires innovative solutions, and AI is exceptionally good at analyzing vast datasets to model and predict environmental trends, and could play a crucial role in managing it. Social issues, like poverty and inequality, could benefit from AI-driven initiatives that optimize resource allocation and policy planning.
?
Back to that question, is it only a matter of time? Or is it a matter of time and greed? We might exchange “greed” by “search for profit” for the benefit of political correction, but greed makes the point better than that circumvention. After all, greed has been a powerful driver of the several revolutions that our industrial society has gone through.
?
Human intervention, and greed as one of its drivers, will steer AI towards addressing those challenges. Ethical considerations, responsible development, and collaboration between diverse stakeholders will be crucial in ensuring that AI is applied to problems in a way that it does not clash with the well-being of societies.
?
The eternal conflict between profit and ethical considerations will continue expressing itself in many ways in the widespread application process of AI. Companies may be inclined to prioritize financial gains over ethical principles, leading to the development of new AI technologies with detrimental effects on privacy, security, and general well-being.
?
For instance, facial recognition technology raises concerns about privacy invasion and surveillance. Profit-driven entities may deploy these technologies without adequate safeguards, potentially infringing on individuals' rights. Striking a balance between profit and ethics requires the establishment of robust regulatory frameworks, ethical guidelines, and responsible business practices to ensure AI benefits societies without compromising fundamental values.
?
?
The conflict between ontological truth and what AI-defines as truth:
?
The training of AI models relies on vast datasets that may not always be loyal to ontological truth. AI systems learn from historical data, which can contain biases, inaccuracies, or even intentional lies. AI models also tend to hallucinate, which in part can relate to the training, but not only to it. This raises concerns about the reliability and trustworthiness of AI-generated information.
?
The conflict between ontological truth and AI-defined truth becomes evident in scenarios where AI systems inadvertently perpetuate biases present in their training data. For example, if an AI model is trained on biased historical data, it may produce biased outcomes, reinforcing social inequalities. Addressing this conflict requires ongoing efforts to improve data quality, transparency in AI decision-making processes, and the incorporation of diverse perspectives during model development.
?
?
Conclusion:
?
AI is undeniably a powerful tool with the potential to address existing problems and reshape various aspects of our near-future lives and business. However, its widespread adoption raises ethical concerns, the need for responsible development, and a careful balance between profit motives and general well-being.
?
As we navigate the evolving landscape of AI and find new problems for this solution to solve, it is crucial to channel its capabilities towards solving meaningful problems, while addressing the ethical and truth-related challenges that may arise.
?
The responsible and thoughtful application of AI will determine to what extent it truly becomes a solution to the world's most pressing problems or a source of new challenges and dilemmas.
