Skill Set Integrity

Read this article if you:

-  Are not seeing the results you hoped for

-  Talk with little action

What is the point of taking time to map your skill set path only to delay action? Many times, conditions or criteria are used as excuses for lack of action. Take a moment, think about how many times you have used conditional responses, I will do X once I do Y.” Conditional responses keep us in the same place year after year. The time is now, look for opportunities to develop skills in your current position, volunteer opportunities and in your personal life. You are using skill set integrity when your thoughts, words, and actions are on the same path. Below is an example:

Thought: In my current position, I want to develop my public speaking skills.

Words: (to your supervisor), “…in our next meeting, I would like to discuss opportunities to develop my public speaking skills. I researched upcoming conferences and would like your input on which would best showcase our company, as well as my knowledge of the field. “

Actions: Submit several proposals to upcoming conferences.

If you find yourself feeling stagnant, or not where you thought you would be, ask yourself the following questions:

1.  In what ways are my thoughts in and out of alignment in developing my skill set path?

2.  In what ways are my words in and out of alignment in developing my skill set path?

3.  In what ways are my actions in and out of alignment in developing your skill set path?
