?? Growing up multilingual, I often felt torn between English and Nepali, especially in school, where using my home language was prohibited. Now, I’m thrilled to share research that shows translanguaging (switching between languages) is a powerful learning asset, not a barrier! ?? Our article, Translanguaging for Linguistically Proud Mathematics Classrooms, was just published in the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics - NCTM Mathematics Teacher: Learning & Teaching PK–12. Thanks to my advisor, Dr. Ji Yeong I, for offering me an opportunity to work on this manuscript as soon as I started school at Iowa State, a time when I did not even know the term 'translanguaging'. ??
