?? Korea RRA Updates Technical Regulations for Marine Radio Devices ? Technical regulations regarding marine radio devices are planned to be revised in accordance with international standards (ITU/IMO). Please refer to the details below. Public opinions will be collected until August 23, 2024. ? ? Location Transmitter for Search and Rescue: The regulations on technical standards for search and rescue, which were stricter than international standards, will be relaxed to the level of international standards. ? ? Satellite Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB): In accordance with international standards, the content is updated to mandate that the Satellite EPIRB be equipped with an Automatic Identification System (AIS) function. ? ? Onboard Communication Station: Analog transmitters using a channel spacing of 25 kHz are specified to have an occupied bandwidth of 16 kHz, and analog transmitters using a channel spacing of 12.5 kHz are specified to have an occupied bandwidth of 8.5 kHz. ? ? Autonomous Maritime Radio Equipment: To resolve the ambiguity of transmission messages such as identification numbers and navigation status, it will comply with ITU recommendations to align with international standards. They will take the summer 2024 lessons learned to prepare for summer 2025. Eurocontrol Vision: Significantly enhance the operational usage and efficiency of ATN-B1 by prioritizing areas where capacity is most needed, achieving targeted improvements by summer 2025 and summer 2026, and extending these benefits across the entire network for airline operational efficiency. Leverage multilink solutions, starting with dual-link VDLM2 and SATCOM IRIS, as key enablers to strengthen the resilience of the European datalink network. ?? On Tuesday 23 April, SESAR Deployment Manager will present at ICNS Conference during Plenary II: "Improving Today's Data Link Performance with Tomorrow's Technology". Our #ATM modernisation planning coordinator Cristian Pradera Díez will co-chair this session and our transversal expert Thomas Koerber will share SDM's viewpoint on the current Data-Link situation. ?? They will provide answers to questions like, what are the current issues faced and what are the upcoming solutions in the near and long term? KNL’s CNHF radios are automatic, which not only makes them easy to use, but they are more efficient than traditional HF radios. Traditionally HF radios have required skilled operators to help them find good frequencies where they can hear each other properly. The key takeaway? 5G is everywhere! Proprietary solutions are a thing of the past, and direct-to-device is dominating the conversation. But one thing we couldn’t help but notice: Is Europe falling behind? ?? From our discussions, it seems like Europe’s satellite industry might not be pushing forward as boldly as expected. Are we investing enough? Are we ambitious enough when it comes to 5G NTN? Could it be that the European satellite industry is simply working with heads down, and not being as loud about plans for 5G NTN? After all, there’s value in letting actions speak louder than words. What do you think?
