Yesterday, we had the pleasure of opening our doors to host an Employer Visit for a cohort of learners currently undertaking an Engineering Skills Bootcamp through EqualEngineers. This initiative, funded by the Department for Education, aims to bridge the skills gap in industries historically facing workforce shortages by providing free, flexible training to individuals looking to retrain, upskill, or enter engineering. The visit was expertly organised by EqualEngineers Programme Manager, Patrick Murray Whitham, with the learners accompanied by the fantastic Fayon Dixon, EqualEngineers Engagement Manager. A Day of Insight & Hands-On Learning Our HSE Advisor, George Bowskill, and Sarah Collins led the event, kicking off with a full company induction, an overview of Wright Engineering, and an in-depth tour of our headquarters, including: ? Office functions – covering project management, accounts, and design ? Fabrication and assembly workshops – offering first-hand insight into our hands-on engineering processes A huge thank you to our team members who shared their expertise and gave the learners a real-world understanding of the industry: Gary Chadwick – Design Office Manager Tracey Creswick – Accounts Office Manager Richard Mann – Projects Director Steve Whitfield – Works Foreman Olivia Bee-Dixon – Welding Apprentice Learning Through Safety During their tour, the learners were introduced to one of our core Health & Safety procedures – Safety Observation Reports (SORs). These reports allow employees to highlight potential risks, best practices, and areas for improvement before incidents occur. Each participant was challenged to submit an SOR based on their observations, and, as we do with our employees, we selected the most insightful submission—rewarding the winner with an Amazon voucher. Industry Insight & Future Success A special mention to George Bowskill, who shared his wealth of industry experience, providing invaluable guidance on working in engineering and what it takes to succeed in this sector. We are proud to support initiatives like EqualEngineers and play our part in shaping the future of the industry. We wish this cohort every success in completing their technical training and Skills Bootcamp in Engineering, and we look forward to seeing them thrive in their careers. We’d also like to extend our thanks to The Bridge Skills Hub and Timothy Gladman for hosting the EqualEngineers Skills Bootcamp, providing a fantastic environment for learners to develop their engineering knowledge and skills. #engineering #skillsbootcamp #training #equalengineers #careerdevelopment #engineer #worksop #bassetlaw

Thank for you continued support Chris Boden-Hook, Sarah Collins, George Bowskill and the team at Wright Engineering, I'm confident the participants would have had a very interesting and worthwhile experience with you, learning more about your business, its activities and clients. We are keen to explore if we can make the The Bridge Skills Hub the Northern Centre for further East Midlands Combined County Authority Skills Bootcamps both in engineering disciples and wider sector skills, linked to opportunities we have locally and leading into the growth of higher skills. We will shortly be collecting some feedback from the participants, supporting employers and delivery partners EqualEngineers so Sarah Shemilt and I will shortly be in touch to collect your thoughts!
