On October 10th, Symetri will host our 3rd Building Safety Summit, where we’ll explore how digital construction can improve safety by maintaining the #goldenthread of information throughout the lifecycle of a building. This summit will focus on how we can ensure all 3 Gateways are successfully navigated in line with the new #BuildingSafetyAct requirements. We’ll be joined by experts from across the industry, including architects, contractors, and building owners, along with the Building Safety Regulator, to gain critical insights and updates. Come along to discuss how the additional data efforts needed to meet these requirements can also be leveraged to support #digitaltwin and #sustainability strategies, driving even greater value for the entire industry. We talked with Mark Pratten from Airey Miller about the essential role of the Golden Thread of Information in construction. ?? Mark spoke about how challenges may arise when dealing with previously owned or repurposed buildings due to potential information gaps. It is crucial to ensure that the information accessible on-site is also accessible in the office, creating a seamless connection between the two sources, and providing vital information as readily accessible. ?? Keeping on top of the golden thread when it comes to construction safety is crucial - to learn more, watch the full, unedited panel on YouTube by clicking the link in our comments. #ResidentialConstruction #Innovation #Technology #ConstructionInnovation #ConstructionEvent #GoldenThread #ConstructionSafety #Information

Symetri Building Safety Summit 10th October - Don't Miss Out!! With the results of the 'Grenfell Tower Inquiry: Phase 2 Report' and a number of high rise fires over the last couple of weeks, Building Safety is very much front of mind, not only for those involved in design, construction and operations of high rise structures, but with the UK population as a whole. On October 10th Symetri Europe host our 3rd Building Safety Summit to look at how digital construction can support improvements in the way we build better and more safely moving forwards. We look at maintaining the #goldenthread of information throughout the design, construction and operation phases, to ensure all 3 Gateways are effectively navigated inline with the new #BuildingSafetyAct requirements. In addition to digital construction experts and representatives from architects, contractors and building owners we will be joined by the Building Safety Regulator to get updates, support and insights from their perspective. We believe that the data vital to meeting the requirements of the Building Safety Act, can also drive huge value in other areas of building management. We will explore how the additional effort required in data capture and evidencing can also capitalised upon to underpin #digitaltwin and #sustainability strategies. An excellent panel discussion at today’s NBS Construction Leaders’ Summit about The Building Safety Act. Hearing from Paul Morrell OBE, Former Chief Construction Adviser to the UK Government, Nick Schumann, Founder of the Schumann Companies, Allan Wilen, Economics Director at Glenigan and Dan Norman, Head of Specification at OBEX UK has been extremely insightful and a few key takeaways include: ?? Manufacturers have to be more transparent about product testing ?? Transparency and regulation in product compliance is a must ?? Testing needs to be more thorough ?? Industry and innovation move forward very quickly- and it needs to be a team effort to keep up Find out more on our recent blog surrounding compliance on our website: https://lnkd.in/emscAcpi Jason Devenish #buildingsafetyact #compliance #substructureprotection #manufacturers

The key to strengthening the UK construction industry in 2025 lies in balancing all three: innovation, skills development, and policy changes. Innovation drives efficiency and sustainability, skills development ensures a strong and future-ready workforce, and thoughtful policy changes create the framework for progress. However, if I had to pick one, skills development should take centre stage. Without a skilled workforce, innovation and policy can only go so far. Investing in training and apprenticeships will future-proof our industry. #BuildingTheFuture #UKConstruction
What’s the one thing you think would make the UK construction industry even stronger in 2025—more innovation, skills development, or policy changes? ????? Let us know your ideas! #UKConstruction #BuildingTheFuture #ConstructionCommunity

We recently invited collaborators and clients from across the UK to share their collective thoughts on the impact of the Building Safety Act, in a series of roundtable discussions. For designers, the Building Safety Act (BSA) makes ground-breaking reforms to how we gain approvals for buildings (particularly those considered to be “high risk”), how we control change during design and construction, and how we maintain records of key decisions, materials and strategies which are critical in terms of safety. These roundtables looked at progress since the Building Safety Act (BSA) came into force in April 2022, gateways and responsibilities, The Golden Thread, the impact on procurement processes, scenarios and responsibilities, and in-occupation considerations. The presentations were followed by an open discussion on experiences on live projects since the end of the transition period. Our experts from across the UK included Peter Goff, Associate Director, Jamie lee McQuillan, Associate Director, Ian Maddocks, Global Discipline Director, Sarah Slade MSc CMgr MCMI TechIOSH, UK Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager, Emma S., Global Quality Manager, Shaun Farrell, Information Manager Lead, Rory O'Malley, Associate Director, Tim Williams, Associate Design Manager, Simon Penny, Director, Lee H., Associate Director and Daniel Bailey, Associate.
