This especially happens with predominant Type A personality types with their constant need to prove themselves. But this process is such an energy and confidence drainer, resulting in negative impact on productivity. (All the more in environments where initial period sets the perspective etched in stone) There are solutions to this situation: 1. Reducing weightage on external validation as this will focus you on things that are in your influence rather than things that are not. (One cannot please everyone, right people will see your worth anyway) 2. Constant reminders of your achievements because of which you are at a coveted position. This will help to cope with Imposter Syndrome 3. Reducing the perfectionism and being comfortable with failing fast, seeking feedback and moving ahead.

I have seen this A LOT over the years. Nike did something similar where for the first 3 months I worked there they told me my job was basically to build relationships and learn about the company. I find a lot of new employees, especially senior executives, try to "prove themselves" by talking way too much at meetings early on.
