As the world has turned towards sustainable materials over the decades—from the early days of plant-based plastics to today's advanced biodegradable composites—the promise of a less pollutive future can be perceived to be within reach. Yet, recent shifts in the industry suggest new trends that are worth discussing. Major players, some of the largest corporations in the world, are reverting to recycled plastics despite less than 10% of plastics actually being recycled. On the other hand companies are scaling back on their commitments to sustainable initiatives, influenced by market dynamics and regulatory changes. These shifts raise critical questions about the viability of sustainable materials. Are they on the brink of extinction? What does this mean for our health as humans? At erthos?, we stand firm in our mission to advance sustainable alternatives that significantly reduce traditional plastics' environmental, climate, and health impacts. We believe that with continued innovation and collective effort, sustainable materials can thrive, helping to forge a sustainable path forward for the global manufacturing sector. We invite you to join the conversation as we delve into these developments. What are your thoughts on the future of sustainable materials? Comment below, and let's discuss how we can collectively address these pressing issues. #erthos #SustainableMaterials? #TheStateofSustainableMaterials

1 个月If the world focused more on sustainable materials, we could all become more proactive in adapting to our ever-evolving climate. Even now, as devastating wildfires spread across southern California, the full extent of burning forever plastics' role in air quality toxicity remains to be determined. Our lack of urgency to choose a better path will continue to have lasting effects even after the dust settles. Extinction is a luxury we can't afford.
