How do you perform under pressure? Well it seems metal additive manufactured parts love pressure. #HotIsostaticPressing or #HIP is an amazing technology that works like magic to close porosity in AM metals, using high temperature and pressure. Today’s publication highlight is a study performed in 2020 to use high resolution CT imaging with small additively manufactured titanium samples with varying porosity levels, then imaging the porosity before and after HIP on the exact same samples. Great collaboration with Eric MacDonald and some very interesting results besides the obvious: HIP is amazing.
