Adapting to New Challenges: My Journey from Thanjavur to Bengaluru I recently discovered how adaptable I truly am. Reflecting on my own #careerjourney, I am reminded of the #humblebeginnings I had 25 years ago as a #medicalrepresentative in Mumbai. With no industry connections or family ties to guide me, I relied solely on my #determination, #passion and #selfdevelopment. After graduating with a degree in #Pharmacy from #KarnatakUniversity, Dharwad, I chose #Mumbai as my #career launchpad. "Those early days were marked by #simplicity and #hardwork. I lived as a paying guest in Mumbai (with a distant acquaintance from my hometown of Bokaro, Jharkhand). My rented house as paying guest was a 1RK in a modest CGHS colony apartment at Antop Hill of Mumbai, where I slept on the kitchen floor surrounded by sample cartons. Despite the challenges, I remained focused on my job and committed to my #goals. "Today, I proudly look back on my journey, from those #humblebeginnings to my current role as Heading #LearningDevelopment in pharma. I am also grateful to have moved from paying guest to owning a house a 2BHK flat in Thane's Hiranandani Estate and a 3BHK house in Bangalore's RR Nagar. Where do you think the future drivers of India’s growth will come from? In the last 50+years, the key Southern and Western states have been the engines of economic growth in India with some of the more populous states in the North and Centre / East being laggards. With >60% of Indias population, these states had fallen behind in literacy levels, investment and consumption. However, with improved law and order, better infrastructure (roads, uninterrupted power, etc.) and manufacturing led growth, there is an opportunity for many of these states to be the next driver for exponential economic growth. In fact, unlike in the past when most of the investible companies originated from a handful of “developed” states, I find an increasing number of opportunities emanating from “developing” states. Until about 10 years ago, our investment opportunities almost exclusively came from Mumbai, Pune, NCR, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Hyderabad. Now many interesting ones also come from Jaipur, Surat, Indore, Patna, Lucknow/ Kanpur, Ludhiana, Chandigarh etc.... But a person from Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh is told that a local candidate is needed for Maharashtra. 3.You can work in Varanasi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat. But if a person from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan wants to work here, a local candidate is required. Vizag as the next IT hub? ? I've been meeting entrepreneurs who are increasingly choosing to establish their small offshore centers in Vizag over traditional Southern tech cities like Hyderabad, Chennai, or Bangalore. ? It was my first visit to the city and similar to cities like Indore, Jaipur, Lucknow etc, this city also has a great potential to be the next go to IT destination. ? It's exceptionally neat and well-maintained and not only is Vizag scenically beautiful, but it's also well-connected. Though there's room for improvement, the existing infrastructure supports both living and business operations effectively. ? The real question is whether these cities will continue to be labelled as "upcoming" as they have been for some time, or if concrete steps will be taken to shift the mindset primarily. Will there be a focused effort to transform these potential hubs into established centres of technology and innovation?
