During the Pragati Yatra in Begusarai, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar interacted with candidates from minority communities enrolled in the GDA Advanced and Assistant Electrician courses under the Minority Welfare Department. As part of the Mukhyamantri Shram Shakti Yojana, he handed over pre-placement offer letters to candidates training in the Assistant Electrician job role. These candidates were selected through an innovative and transparent selection process, showcasing the department’s commitment to inclusivity and fairness. This engagement not only motivated the trainees but also underscored the state’s unwavering dedication to empowering its youth with skills and opportunities. It’s burning hot outside. There is a #heatwave?warning for 8 districts in Maharashtra. Imagine working without shade, rest, or water in the peak heat hours of the afternoon. For the past couple of years, the labour secretary/department has issued directives to construction companies to reschedule working hours and offer adequate rest times. However, there is little to none implementation of this directive. We have decided to take the demand of pause on working hours between 12 pm and 2 pm, without reducing wages, directly to the Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board in Maharashtra. Deriving power from the Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Services) Rules 2007, this board can ensure construction workers are not forced into working in extreme heat hours. Yes, the biggest challenge faced by business owners here is finding suitable and dedicated workers. I’m not talking about something far-fetched; let me give you a small example. If you need any minor household work done, whether it’s by an electrician, plumber, or carpenter, it’s rare to find someone who is honest and dedicated on the first try. Organizations face similar issues. If you have a small digital agency, show me a #graphicdesigner within a month who is committed to their work and not lazy. If you own a hotel, find a skilled worker who doesn’t know how to ruin your thriving business. In any field, you’ll find a shortage of dedicated workers. Yet, people here complain that they have professional degrees but can’t find jobs, while we lament that we are ready to offer good salaries but can’t find competent people.
