?? Kobo on the ground: Tanzania Kobo’s Project Manager David Luswata recently provided in-person KoboToolbox training for the staff at The School Of St Jude in Arusha, Tanzania. The School of St. Jude is a nonprofit organization that channels funding where it is needed most to support inclusive and equitable education. Through their scholarship program, St. Jude’s helps urban and rural youth living in poverty to access advanced educational opportunities at the school. To support their important work, Kobo delivered a series of hands-on virtual trainings, culminating with a comprehensive in-person training for the St. Jude team. The capacity strengthening sessions covered a range of topics from form building to field data collection. We are delighted to have the chance to collaborate with the School of St. Jude and to contribute to their mission of improving educational opportunities for children in Tanzania. ?? Reflecting on Africa Philanthropy at OECD’s Africa Philanthropy Day ?? I was honored to participate in the OECD Development NetFWD Africa Philanthropy Day in Paris, where global leaders gathered to discuss how philanthropy can catalyze sustainable development across Africa. During the panel on education philanthropy, I shared insights from TrustAfrica’s work and the IEFG Spotlight Report on Education Philanthropy in Africa, highlighting: ? The critical need to bridge data gaps in education philanthropy to ensure equitable resource distribution. ? The power of locally-led development, where African actors take the lead in designing and implementing solutions tailored to their communities. ? How philanthropy can support systemic change by fostering collaboration and innovation while respecting Africa’s indigenous traditions of giving. The discussions highlighted the immense potential of philanthropy to not only fund education but to transform systems, empower local organizations, and prepare future generations for a rapidly changing world. A key takeaway for me was the importance of collaboration—between African and European actors, governments, and the private sector—to build sustainable solutions for inclusive development. I am deeply grateful to the OECD and its Centre on Philanthropy for providing this platform to amplify African voices and foster dialogue on such critical issues. Let’s continue working together to shape a future where philanthropy drives equity, inclusion, and opportunity for all. # TrustAfrica # OECD Development # International Education Funders Group (IEFG)

What is the mc2h foundation? and how is it transforming lives through literacy? Take a look at the mc2h 2023 Annual Activity Report below. Not only does it give a clear overview of the foundation’s mission and vision, and its plan for getting there, but it is an inspiring and hopeful read…. The report introduces the foundation’s 7 grassroots partners and how collectively they are reaching over 1m children, creating a positive ripple effect among underserved communities in West Africa, including Ghana, by encouraging reading among primary aged children. The challenge is significant. Did you know that 86% children in Africa under 10 years old in Africa cannot read, despite going to school? mc2h’s approach to solving Africa’s literacy vacuum is holistic and based on a philosophy of partnership and collaboration (with a broad and growing network of partners) to achieve sustainable, sectoral and systemic change. And we are proud to be counted among these partners: supporting, collaborating and advocating for change, to better serve underprivileged communities, boosting early years literacy in Ghana and beyond. #championingAfrica #boostingliteracy #CSR #mc2h #mocoh *“State of Learning Poverty: 2022 Update” published by the World Bank, UNESCO, UNICEF, FCDO, USAID and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

When we started Make Them Smile Foundation,Make Them Smile Foundation Cameroon I knew youth had untapped potential. But 2024 showed me just how transformative that potential can be when we create the right opportunities. ??? This year, we didn't just empower 600 youths at the One Youth One Dream Conference - we ignited a movement. By providing skills training, mentorship, and a platform for growth, we watched young people transform from feeling stuck to becoming change-makers in their communities for example the birth of HEALTH TECH FOR ALL FOUNDATION (HETEFA) by MBI VAHID Our blood donation drives collected over 300 pints, turning individual acts of generosity into lifelines for patients across Southwest Cameroon. When we reached 200 young girls through menstrual hygiene campaigns, we weren't just distributing knowledge - we were rebuilding confidence and breaking down harmful societal barriers. ???? The SDG 1 Award we received wasn't just a recognition - it was validation that youth empowerment is a powerful pathway out of poverty. As I shared earlier this year, "We are providing young people with tools to understand the value of their skills and certificates." Here are three moments that capture our journey: 1. Addressing the Central Africa Youth Crisis "Investing in young people is investing in our future. Together, we can provide the tools and opportunities we need to become great leaders and innovators." Full post: https://lnkd.in/dCA2n2Es 2. Receiving the SDG 1 Promoter Award This award represents our commitment to creating sustainable livelihoods through skill development. Full post: https://lnkd.in/d2rTcEC3 3. Cameroon Youth Awards Nomination A reminder that our potential is limited only by our imagination and commitment. Thank you Ngwane Denzel Full post: https://lnkd.in/dWumWWNi Looking ahead to 2025, our vision for One Youth One Dream is ambitious: empower 1000+ youths, expand our health initiatives, and continue building sustainable communities. As I complete my Master's in Public Health in June 2025, I'm more committed than ever to creating systemic change. To every youth, every partner, every supporter - your belief fuels our mission. Together, we're not just changing individual lives, we're reshaping our region's future, and yes our Nation at large.?? #YouthEmpowerment #CommunityDevelopment #SDGImpact #Cameroon #LinkedInRewind #2024Wrapped

There's no question that investments in older children's learning are essential. But how effective these investments will be is decided much earlier: during early childhood development, when children build the foundation for success in school and the skills to participate in an ever-evolving job market. Unlike many higher income countries, the social spending on children in Africa is skewed, favoring children ages 12 to 17. In this blog, Sarah Hague of UNICEF and GPE's Joa Keis summarize the findings of UNICEF's Fit for the Future policy note and explain how African countries can optimize the impact of their social spending and build human capital that can foster equitable growth: https://g.pe/crit50UFF6m #FundEducation #EarlyMomentsMatter | UNICEF Innocenti
This is very encouraging!
