???? Are we all doomed? Just explored this burning question at an amazing KPMG event with my 180 Degrees Consulting team! ???? Big shoutout to Mirja Schwarm, Sarah Zarges, and Basil St?hly for leading the session and sharing insights about life at KPMG. Their perspectives on ESG and climate risk management were enlightening and truly inspiring. ???? For those unfamiliar, ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance—three critical factors in measuring the sustainability and ethical impact of an investment in a business or company. One key takeaway that really resonated with me was the importance of integrating ESG considerations into long-term business strategies to mitigate risks and drive sustainable growth. ???? The case study we discussed, titled “ESG Risks & Climate Stress Test - Are We All Doomed?", provided a deep dive into the challenges and strategies surrounding ESG risks and climate change. From the moment I arrived and received my visitor badge, I knew it was going to be a great day. The office was massive and spacious, a perfect environment for brainstorming and collaboration. Recently, my inbox has been flooded with inquiries from recent graduates to mid-career professionals wanting to understand what’s happening in the Sustainability and Climate (S&C) Consulting space. I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few insights here. Based on my personal experience, the primary job roles, and the connections I’ve made, I’ve come to understand that the S&C offerings can be broadly categorized into the following key buckets: 1. Strategic Consulting - Example: "A FMCG client wants to identify emission hotspots in the upstream value chain and create a strategic roadmap for decarbonization." 2. Operational Consulting - Example: "A global manufacturer seeks to optimize its production processes by conducting a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to reduce waste and improve energy efficiency." 3.
