#Allahabad is #Dhulabad (#Prayagraj is #Dustraj) As a #devote #Hindu I was on a trip to Prayagraj, the holy city of #Sangam. The entire city is under #construction #mode for preparation of #Kumbh. Most of the #roads are #blocked. #Diversions are badly made. Trucks, dumpers, tractors are all in hurry and are moving every where #without any #traffic #rules. There is #dust everywhere. The #residents and the #tourist are put to extreme #discomfort and #health #hazards. Yes I understand this is a all for the preparation of #Kumbh #Mela which is once in 12 years event. However, what I do not appreciate that all the works are being done together and at the last minute. The Kumbh Mela #dates are #known for #years then why the works can not be planned well? As an experienced project director, I can tell with full understanding that the jobs at hand can not be completed before the due date of 14th #Jan #2025, without huge #compromise on #quality. How the engineers can ensure #quality and certify #quantity in such a state of #Flux. I am told that the total budget is around 12,000 crores. At the end politicians will come, inaugurate the mela, take credit of successful organisation and the contractors and engineers will make money. This will be all done at the cost of tax payers money. The works should have been planned well and many permanent works could have changed the landscape of the city, without wasting tax payers money. I wish the people in high positions are held accountable to tax payers money. I am all for such events and would like to see the extent of #Humanity which #converge for such events purely out of #faith and #devotion. However, this should not become an event for corruption and bad quality of work. Is the #UP #Government listening.
