- Big Day Tomorrow - I have never hesitated to volunteer myself to share the knowledge and experience I've gained with the place where I studied. My college is located in one of the villages in the deep south of Tamil Nadu. When I graduated in 2012, I had minimal exposure to job searching. Through my own mistakes and the lessons learned from failures, I have gained some insights. I failed many interviews before and after securing my first job, and I still consider myself to be in the learning phase. Despite that, I choose to share my experiences along the way while I continue to work toward my own goals. Reaching those goals may take time, but sharing my experiences might help someone struggling in a similar way. Much like a machine learning model, I still fail and sometimes deliver poor performance. But with each setback, I learn, retrain, and fine-tune myself to improve. I hope to deliver valuable content to students and that, hopefully, it will be of help to a few. IIT Bombay could not give jobs to 25% of its graduates 38% of IITian across 23 campuses are unemployed. Most of the IIMs are struggling to get placements for their students. The story is more dire for other colleges and other streams in India. Several studies have indicated that only 1 in 4 MBAs, 1 in 5 engineers, and 1 in 10 graduates are employable. I can relate to this firsthand as we interview hundreds of candidates year-round for various fresher positions. Both educational institutions and, more importantly, the young graduating students must make a massive effort?to skill themselves so that they are employable. It is high time that higher educational institutions move away from irrelevant curriculums and learning methodologies that will not benefit the students. A paradigm shift is also needed in the mindset of young job seekers.
