Here are the key points to consider:?????????????? ?????????????????? ???????????????? ????????????????:?Approximately 38% of IIT students across 23 campuses, totaling around 8,000 individuals, are still seeking employment despite registering for placements. This represents a significant increase compared to previous years. ?????? ?????????????????? ??????????????:Out of the 21,500 students who registered for placements, only 13,410 have secured jobs, leaving a substantial number of students without any placement prospects. ???????????? ???????????? ????????????:The job crisis has impacted the mental health of students, with a heartbreaking six reported suicides among IIT students this year, underscoring the severity of the situation. ?????????? ?????? ???????????? ???????????? ??????????????:?IITs are reaching out to their alumni networks to assist in placing current students or recommending them to companies facing a shortage of engineering talent. It’s hard to believe that eight months have passed since I joined XandY Learning. I reflect on the bold choices that led me here, including leaving my role at Paytm and turning down a lucrative offer from a multinational corporation in the GCC. This was not an easy decision, but several factors helped me take that huge step. Back in 2011, my parents wanted me to pursue a career in medicine, while I was passionate about engineering. I loved mathematics and physics more than any other subjects and believed a career in engineering and technology would be better suited for me. I cracked the JEE in 2011 and got admission to Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. One of the first things that struck me at IITM was the fact that over 50% of my classmates were from Andhra Pradesh. In my class of 54 students, around 27 were from AP. I had been told throughout my school days that Kerala excelled in education, yet in 2011, the number of students from Kerala in IITs was just around 80 across all institutes. In contrast, IITM alone had close to 400 students from AP. This disparity raised a question in my mind: why? Fast forward to 2024, and despite Kerala ranking number one in all education parameters from NITI Aayog and other sources, the number of IITians produced each year from Kerala remains roughly around 150. Since 2011, there has been an increase of at least 10,000 seats across IITs (including supernumerary seats). So why is Kerala still lagging behind other states in competitive examinations? XandY Learning was founded to bridge this gap in education. Our objective is to ensure that students from Kerala perform better than those from any other state in competitive examinations, sending more students to IITs, AIIMS, NITs, and other top institutes in India and around the world. When Mohammed Ajmal C and the founding team presented me with the opportunity to join this mission, I faced some resistance from friends and family regarding my decision to join a startup and reject a good job offer. However, the choice was easy for me. I have always wanted to improve education in Kerala.
