An email came through this morning.
→ It was a rejection email from one of our #gamedev clients to a candidate. And it wasn't your standard: 'We've decided to go with other people' message or 'We're looking for someone with more experience' - the email actually offered a lot of encouragement, thoughts behind why their application stood out, and what made this candidate great throughout the interviews.
→ It also had actionable suggestions for their future interviews that I think is very valuable.
This candidate put a lot of effort, had multiple meetings, but unfortunately in the end it turned out the that the role, and the circumstances just weren't a fit.
→ When you have hundreds or thousands of people applying for a position there's no way you can get back to each and everyone with a personalised message. But, for those that you end up talking to, those who invest their time and effort interviewing, doing tests, etc. should be rewarded with something more than a cliché copy/paste message.
