Today is International Day of Disabled People. What does that mean to us? Why is it important? It’s a day to celebrate you—the individuals in our community who are breaking barriers, achieving incredible things, and showing the world what’s possible. It’s a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come and recognize the work that still lies ahead. Through Project Nemo I’ve witnessed the power of belief, fellowship, and dreaming together. It’s not just about what we’ve accomplished—it’s about the people who make it possible. Mentors like Joanne Dewar have taught me that true progress happens when we support one another, open doors for others, and, most importantly, pass the mic. Passing the mic means creating space for voices that often go unheard. It’s about ensuring that everyone in our community—especially those with additional needs—has the chance to share their stories, their achievements, and their dreams. Because representation isn’t a privilege; it’s a right. But here’s the reality: many voices are still not heard. Many stories remain untold, and too many people outside this space don’t even know what today is or why it matters. And that’s why I’m asking for something simple yet powerful: your comment. This post isn’t about likes. When you comment, you amplify this message. You show your network that you stand for inclusion, for representation, and for celebrating the achievements of a community that is often overlooked. Your comment is a ripple effect—it takes this conversation beyond our circle and into spaces where it can spark real change. So today, let’s celebrate. Celebrate the victories, big and small.
