I'm delighted to announce the completion of my one-year tenure as a project assistant at Gujarat Environment Management Institute (GEMI). During this enriching journey, I've had the privilege to work on diverse projects that have significantly enriched my understanding in environment field. One of the highlights was my involvement in the Deendalay Port Environment Monitoring project, where I had the chance to conduct various sampling of environmental components such as ambient air, marine water, sediment, soil, ecology and many more. Furthermore, I actively participated in Study of CO2 Emission Estimation and Reduction Strategy under Maritime India Vision 2030, a critical endeavor in today's world where climate change poses a significant threat. Additionally, I had the opportunity to conduct an adequacy and efficacy report on CETPs (Common Effluent Treatment Plants), contributing towards the efficient management of industrial wastewater. Also, I worked on the gap analysis study for bio-medical waste management in Gujarat State (2023). In this study, I conducted surveys and inspections of various hospitals and industries, contributing to crucial insights for improving waste management practices. Moreover, I'm proud to have been a part of various activities of Mission LiFE, advocating for sustainable living and environmental conservation. This included participating in marathons under Project Surat, contributing to the Science City Carnival, and actively engaging in clean-up drives. Day 23/100 Cement Industry Environmental compliance in question at ACC cement plant in Himachal Pradesh A committee has identified environmental compliance failures at the Adani-owned ACC cement plant in Barmana, Bilaspur district, according to The Indian Express. The inspection conducted revealed inadequate dust emission controls, missing three-layer tree plantation and deficient truck-tyre washing systems at the plant. Only one kiln was operational at 40% capacity during the visit, as the plant is undergoing maintenance from 3 January to 8 February 2025. Therefore, the committee has requested an additional eight weeks to submit its report, so that it may conduct a more thorough investigation once the plant is operating at full capacity.
