Sickle Cell is a rare bleeding disorder under the category of Hemoglobinopathies.The hemoglobin becomes sickle shaped reducing Oxygen carrying capacity. Also early destruction of RBCs leading to anaemia. Body pain, anaemia, dizziness, shortness of breathe, poor concentration are common symptoms. Hydroxyurea, blood transfusion, bone marrow transplantation & now gene therapy are treatment available. As per Rights of Person with Disability Act 2016 , India , Thalassemia is also one of the 21 disabilities granting all Rights & protections to all thalassemia patients similar to any other divyang.
