I think Marsha Ramroop FRSA FIEDP has talked about this in the past..... Every year, countless individuals and organisations use #IWD, referencing this website, without realising its ownership or commercial interests. While the site provides resources and campaigns, it’s important to ask: does this reflect the true spirit of International Women’s Day? If you want to honour and support the origins and mission of this day, consider aligning with the United Nations’ official International Women’s Day site: https://lnkd.in/efwrnf9M. Yesterday, on International Men’s Day, we celebrated positive role models for gender equality and inclusion. Together we can create spaces where everyone feels supported and able to thrive. A key aim of this day is to promote gender equality as well as highlight some of the social issues that men and boys face, to focus further on health and wellbeing, to promote positive role models and to celebrate men’s positive contributions to their social and societal environments. This year, the official theme for International Men’s Day is ‘Positive Role Models’. When we think of role models, we might think of people who inspire, lead with integrity, show empathy and respect, communicate openly, recognize and support others. Sometimes even a word of encouragement or offering a helping hand can make all the difference. Do you have someone you consider as your role model? Ground rules for respect: In DareGender’s men’s groups, participants focus on sharing personal reflections without commenting on or advising others. This practice encourages self-reflection and fosters empathy. ?? Encouraging self-work: Men learn to prioritize emotional self-awareness and appreciate diverse forms of personal growth—not just those tied to conventional “manly” success. ??? Real impact: One participant shared how the group helped him feel “good enough” and realize that his unique way of being a man is just as valid as others’.
