?? COP29's Blindspot: Poverty Eradication Missing in Climate Action ?? As the world continues to grapple with the dual crises of climate change and global poverty, it is alarming that the eradication of poverty is still not at the heart of international climate negotiations. Despite the urgent need for climate solutions that are both sustainable and equitable, poverty eradication remains largely sidelined in the conversation. In my latest article published in Deccan Herald , I delve into this critical gap and highlight why poverty alleviation must be integrated into climate action strategies. Without addressing the roots of poverty, any climate policy risks perpetuating inequality and undermining long-term resilience. ?? Read the full article here: Deccan Herald - COP29's Blindspot https://lnkd.in/gRZ5xW_y Let’s push for a more inclusive approach to climate action, where both the planet and its most vulnerable populations are prioritized. ???? #ClimateAction #PovertyEradication #COP29 #SustainableDevelopment #ClimateJustice #PolicyChange #DeccanHerald I would like to thank Prof. Dr. Mukul Saxena, Merin Mariya Dr. V Shyam Kishore for their inspiration and coverage, and Alliance University for their continuous support. ??? ?? Common Sense & Climate Change - There was a post (DeGrowth) this week that generated a lot of interest but that concept forgets that 85% of the world (didn't experience growth) and is still lacking access to basic services such as energy, roads, infrastructures, health and all of them are also having their own maybe not so American Dream but ...a quest for peace and a comfortable life. Ken Opalo also mentioned the response of the President of Guyana to environmentalist on stopping oil exploration. The concept of "leave no one behind" seems not to apply to the climate crisis. Let's not create more problems trying to solve an important global situation that will affect future generations for decades to come. As Ken mentions, energy poverty is driving more people to burn whatever they can find to feed their family.
