I want to share my framework of thinking about work-life balance that I teach to my clients. I learned it through exposure to people who manage to have it all – fulfillment, epic career and epic life. ???????? ??????'?? ?? ???? ????????. It’s an ultra-marathon with no finish line. Entrepreneurs sign up to keep going until it’s done – but there’s no date for when that’s supposed to happen. Will you last without destroying your life in the process? ?????? ???????????? Here’s how to better answer the second part of the question: what has to change? ?????????????? You’re a bio machine. You need proper sleep, food, and movement to keep yourself running smoothly. As one friend puts it, “Get yourself serviced like you would your car.” If you want to achieve big goals, treating your body well isn’t optional—it’s essential. ???????????????????? During our chat,??? “??????????” ?????????? ??????????????. ???????????????? ?????? ?? ?????????????????? ???????????? ???? ????????-???????? “??????????????” and living a good life. As the founder of two companies, I worked 14 hours a day for over a decade, and yet I always found a way to maintain balance. I know the feeling of giving everything to growing your business as it's easy for entrepreneurs to become consumed with their work. Having been there, I've realized that taking care of yourself is as equally important as caring about your business. This shift has changed the way I build my business. Here’s how you can find the right balance: 1. Prioritize health: It involves both physical and mental health. If you feel sick, don’t be afraid to take a day off. Overworking yourself prevents you from getting better, and it leads to more off days in the future. You don't have to follow extreme activities to prioritize your health; it can be as simple as walking or meditation. 2. Set boundaries: Over the years, I've realized that maintaining boundaries is important for spending quality time with our loved ones and avoiding burnout. No matter where you work, it is necessary to determine when you are going to work and when you are not. This will help you achieve a healthy balance between your personal and work life. 3. Personal growth: Focus on personal growth and self-improvement. Learn new skills, seek feedback, and continuously learn to stay ahead. Everyone has a different definition of work-life balance. Are you a woman like me who knows the value of work/life balance but is still struggling to have it in your life? ?? We often hear about the importance of being unstoppable and nonstop in our actions and deeds, especially in the entrepreneurial world. Influencers like Tony Robbins and Rafael Garay inspire us to push ourselves to the limit and achieve great things. And while I understand the value of this mindset, I've come to realize that it's equally important to take time for yourself to chill and revitalize. ? I used to have a kamikaze schedule, intentionally designed to maximize productivity and accomplishment. But recently, I made a decision that my wellbeing is more important than constant achievement. I've learned that true accomplishment comes more easily from a person who is living a balanced and more "nourishing" life. ?? Taking time for self-care and relaxation is not a sign of weakness or laziness. It's a vital part of maintaining our mental, emotional, and physical health. When we prioritize our own wellbeing, we become more focused, creative, and resilient in our work. ?? Here’s a simple, 2-step strategy that helped me find more balance without sacrificing productivity: ? 1) ?????? ?????????? ???? ??????????-???????????? ?? Most people underestimate the impact of taking short, deliberate breaks. I started incorporating 5-10 minute “micro-breaks” frequently, where I step away from the screen, stretch, etc. These breaks go a long way in helping me stay energized throughout the day. Research on maintaining your concentration with and without breaks strongly supports this. ? 2) ??????-???????????????????? ???????????????? ???????? ???? I’m an entrepreneur, which means I work all day and a lot of most evenings. That means there are hard 'no-work' boundaries I need to set between myself and the business, such as dinner with my girlfriend, or some down time every so often. This allows me some time to recharge and show up as my best self- both at work and at home. Plus the people in your life will appreciate it ?? ? ?? ?????? ????????????? I’m not only more productive during the workday, but I also feel more present in my personal life. Walking into the weekend like...?????? ? When was the last time you took an entire weekend (or a whole week) off to relax, unplug, and recharge??? ? ??If you've been following along on here for a while, you know I'm always talking about how important work/life balance is because I know what it's like to get burnt out.?? I was there a little over 5 years ago before I quit my career in Health Information Management and decided to start my own business.? ? Now (as a business owner), the work/life balance is different and a whole new challenge... Which is ironic because part of the reason I started my business was for freedom and flexibility.? ? When I'm passionate about my work and I love my clients, the work doesn't always feel like work... but it definitely is! Which can make it even harder to take time off LOL??♀?? ? Even if you LOVE what you do, it's still SO important to take time away, to step back and recharge.??♀???? ? Not only is this great for mental health but it's going to prevent you from becoming jaded and burnt out. PLUS that's also when you have new ideas and creative thoughts come to you.???? ? I’ve been reflecting on work-life balance lately, especially as we juggle careers and personal lives. This illustration really spoke to me, so I wanted to share my thoughts and experiences with you all. Here are the key elements that I believe contribute to a balanced life: - Faith: Taking time to nurture my spiritual side has been grounding. It gives me peace and perspective. - Love: Cherishing meaningful relationships and ensuring I give them the time they deserve. - Friends: Building strong connections with friends has been vital for support and joy. - Family: Spending quality time with family keeps me centered and reminds me of what’s truly important. - Play: Engaging in fun and recreational activities helps me relax and recharge. - Self: Taking time for personal growth and self-care is something I’ve learned to prioritize. - Wealth: Managing finances wisely is essential for peace of mind and future planning. - Health: Maintaining my physical and mental health is non-negotiable for sustained energy and happiness.
