After taking the lead in global #corn #exports in the 2022/23 crop year, Brazil is expected to remain at the top of the rankings until 2033 and produce 77.5 million tons over the next decade. This projection comes from the USDA, based on an annual study that evaluates the export behavior of the United States and other global producers. Brazilian #soybean exports are anticipated to surpass the entire American production early in the next decade. If these USDA expectations are confirmed, Brazil will supply 72% of the soybeans entering the global market in the coming years, 46% of maize, 62% of Red meat, 61% of white meat, and 32% of swine meat. However, these projections depend on factors such as climate effects, costs, interest rates, geopolitical conflicts, and the evolution of the world economy. The estimative of corn leadership also takes into account a domestic production of 124 million tons for 2023/24, while the National Supply Company (CONBA) estimates 114 million. China is the world's largest importer of soybeans, accounting for more than 60% of the global soybean trade. In 2022, China imported over 90 million tonnes of soybeans. Efforts to increase domestic soybean production are part of Beijing's broader strategy to enhance food security. The Chinese government hopes to raise domestic soybean output by 40% to 23 million tonnes by 2025, up from 20.28 million tonnes in 2022, which was already a 23.7% increase from the previous year However, the sustainability of this vital crop is under threat from the unpredictable consequences of climate change, including severe weather conditions and alterations in growing periods. These challenges bring to light the necessity for immediate action towards sustainable farming methods and the development of climate-resistant soy varieties.
