We have spent over $50M on Meta ads & TikTok ads These are the three things you need to know: You could have doubled your growth if you knew these sooner. 1. Continuous testing Always experiment with different ad formats, creative and messaging. What works for one client might not work for another... Even in the same industry. Some of the best ads I’ve made have come from reiterating countless hooks and scripts. 2. Be adaptable Meta’s policies and algorithm is always evolving. And so should advertisers. Customers are getting used to seeing the same type of?ads so be flexible. If you’re stubborn in your ways, you won’t last. 3. Know your metrics ROAS used to be the holy grail of metrics. But that doesn’t paint the full picture. Always analyze performance metrics and measure different KPIs (CAC, LTV, AOV) to get a broader view of ad accounts. Another lovely example of smart simplicity to report on from last week. We were facing a challenge on TikTok Ads: moving existing ads into a new campaign with a different optimisation goal and ad group budgets (not campaign budgets). TikTok’s UI doesn’t support this, and their official solution was to rebuild the campaign from scratch—definitely not ideal. So, we tried using TikTok’s Ads Export function. After some tinkering (by some we mean lots), we managed to transfer our ads and ad sets to the new campaign in about five minutes. To save you the hassle, here’s our step-by-step guide. 1. Export your original ad groups at the ad group level. 2. Remove Ad Group ID and Ad ID—TikTok will treat these as new in the new campaign. 3. Update Campaign ID to the new campaign’s ID. (Leave blank if creating a new campaign.) 4. Set Campaign Name to the new name (if no existing, create a new name) 5. Set Pixel Event to 147 (Add to Cart). 6. Update Campaign Budget to “No limit,” delete Campaign Budget Amount, and turn Campaign Budget OFF. 7. Set Ad Group Budget Type to “Daily”, setting budget amount to minimum of 20. 8. Set Delivery Type to “Standard.” 9. Import the updated sheet back into TikTok Ads Manager. With this quick fix, TikTok will place your ads in the newly configured campaign??? This process works for moving ads to a campaign optimised for Add to Cart without campaign budget optimisation. If you need other goals, some adjustments may be required. TikTok brought another feature, GMV ads! What’s that GMV ads, let me breakdown?? So GMV ads basically smart performance campaign but on TikTok Shop side. You’re very limited if it’s about adjustments. You can edit budget, desired ROAS and that’s it. Of course you can pick the videos and products you want to advertise. If it’s about campaign setup I’d suggest you not to listen TikTok. Because they suggest me to set 8.2 ROAS with $20k daily budget, that’s crazy! What I’m doing currently is testing different ROAS and budgets. First I tested breakeven point, then 2 ROAS and slightly increasing it. Same goes with the budget. The point here is to find the sweet point that works best. So far I didn’t see any significant result or setup that works really great however I’ll keep testing it.
