But its impact on dialysis centers was particularly profound. In an interview for our YouTube channel, Jammie Mathews, Director at RenalWorks Pte Ltd, shared her experience during this challenging period. When the pandemic struck, she was actively involved in patient care in Malaysia. ?? Unpredictable scope: “When it hit us, we didn't know how devastating it could be,” says Jammie. ?? Quarantine challenges: The situation escalated dramatically, leading to quarantine measures. ?? Devastating toll: According to Jammie, her clinic lost about 30% of its patients during the first year. This is truly heartbreaking. ?? Disrupted care: Doctors were unable to make routine facility visits due to quarantine restrictions, which definitely complicated patient care. ?? Vulnerability exposed: The pandemic revealed the unique vulnerabilities of dialysis patients and centers. This experience stresses the importance of resilience for clinics and healthcare professionals. ?? For the first time, Greece is launching a National Strategy for Quality of Care and Patient Safety 2025–2030. The Greek Ministry of Health and WHO/Europe, through its Office on Quality of Care and Patient Safety in Athens, in collaboration with the Agency for Quality Assurance in Health (ODIPY) and the European Union’s (EU) Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support, worked together to create a new National Strategy for Quality of Care and Patient Safety 2025–2030 that will underpin healthcare transformation in the country. ?? Insights from 405 participants in an online survey and 7 workshops across all 7 health regions in Greece with 348 stakeholders, including patients and patients' organizations, shaped actionable recommendations towards quality of care, patient safety, and patient engagement in healthcare provision in Greece.? This strategy aims to support creating a health system where quality is a daily commitment, ensuring that all citizens trust health care to be safe, respectful, equitable, and efficient.
